This place deserves a zero and to be shut down! Kicking a preschooler out of their school for not knowing a few letters of the alphabet is absolutely disgusting. This child has a learning disability and they claimed they did not want to “dumb down their curriculum.” How selfish and disgusting is this behavior? Do not send your kids here.

At first, based on the Google search, I was drawn to the school because of it's parent ratings. Upon touring the school, I felt confident and comfortable enough to leave my son there that very same day! My family and I never doubted that decision... thus far, it was the best decision we have made for our kids. FOA is truly a hidden gem, from the small class sizes to the academics with hands on learning, accompanied by amazing teachers and a tight knit family environment, all rolled into one school! The exposure to a variety of educational experiences at such a young age has been enriching and in turn has made my sons excited to learn.

This is not a school with fancy campus facility. However, the school provides a good all-around package for a child to grow academically and to allow students to learn about other aspects of life, such as leadership (student council involvement starting in 4th grade) cultures appreciation (diverse student body and International Day celebration), and interactions between kids from various grades with class-buddy activities. The small size class is definitely a plus. They have great teachers with many years of teaching experience. The departmentalized teaching method in the middle school prepares students well for high school. The tuition is reasonable compared to other private schools in San Gabriel Valley area. I was not surprised that they required parents service hours and other fundraising commitments along the way, which I have experienced at other private/non profit schools as well. It was all worth it. I am seeing the results in my child now.

I had visited several preschools before finding Foothill Oaks Academy. My 2 year old had several issues with speech delay, fine motor skills, behavior, balance and was is several hours of therapy per week. We started at this school and all of his therapists were amazed at his progress. They attributed a lot of it to this school. While at this school my son has blossomed and improved so much. His speech has come along, his fine motor skills have greatly improved to the point that he actually can cut with scissors (child safe of course) and draw. He loves music class and even sings the songs he learns. The other children are so nice and they get along so well. When we arrive and leave they all come and say hello and goodbye to each other. The teacher Miss Danielle is wonderful and very experienced. My son is super strong willed and he will do anything she asks and loves her. I also just expected a few finger paintings to bring home but they do several fun art projects and get to learn how to paint with different mediums. My son has learned all of his colors, most of his numbers and letters and he is only 2. My son is also super high energy and has learned to love reading and of course loves all the fun things to do. My son would not be thriving like he is without this place. The preschool is filling fast and for good reason. I am so glad I managed to get in as there is a waiting list now!

I found this school by taking a detour from the busy Huntington Drive. And at the same time we were looking for a close to home preschool for my 2-year old son. In short time after first day of school, our son has been attached to his teacher. He talks about her everyday and tells us about his teacher. He improved so much in independence. We couldn't wait to hear about his day at school everyday. The preschool program taught our son to be independent, well sharing, properly use new words, and be creative. We loved to see all the cute art work ea h student made in their classrooms. Now it's his second year of preschool at FOA, we still see improvements in our son in many way.

My then 2 year old son went here for almost a year but the traumatic experience still lingers. Never have I ever felt like such a bad parent than I did when I would have parent/teacher/admin conferences which I would leave and cry in my car. I was always to blame for any issues my son had and I always had to "fix" it somehow. The teachers are nice but inexperienced especially with discipline, behavioral issues, communication and consistency which is key for his age. I was shocked when I got "spoken to" several times about the fact that my son had pooped in his pants during the time that he was potty training. I mean if you don't remind him every 30 minutes or so to use the restroom he will forget like any 2 year old! I spoke with several behavior therapists, got 7-10 hours of behavioral, speech etc therapy, as the school demanded I request, from the regional center and they still could not handle my son. I was told he was just hitting kids "all day long" by the school but the therapists said the school was too lax and inconsistent. There was just too many things to list. On his last day I heard other parents complaining about some of the same issues I was having. This school had my child making complex art which you will notice walking in but hours of sitting and painting or cutting is not what an energetic 2 year old wants to do every day which in turn lead to him acting out when forced to sit for long periods of time. Bottom line I would highly recommend avoiding this place unless your child has never had any behavior outbursts, acts like a robot, and has zero problems sharing or having kids bully them. Also plan on random days off throughout the year that they do not provide care about 50 per year that they still charge you for. After changing him to his new preschool I have never seen such a difference in him and his care and it prompted me to write this review. His new place communicates daily, has very experienced staff, and laughed when I asked if they needed me to add the behavior therapist and other therapists to his daily schedule. He is a normal, now, 3 year old and together the new school and I team up and coach him using the same techniques towards learning to share, using words instead of hitting and overall good communicating to others.

Our daughter has been attending FOA since 1st grade and the growth we have witnessed in her academics and personal growth are astounding. The small class sizes, attentive teachers and challenging curriculum have brought out the very best in her. The school programs nurture the relationships between the older and younger students which helps create an empathy and bond among the student body that you will not find anywhere else. The science, math and language classes really challenge the kids and seem to be producing confident critical thinkers.

We have 3 sons, two of which are still at FOA, and the oldest (14) is at La Salle High School in Sierra Madre. We are so pleased with how prepared our oldest son was for high school - not only did he test into multiple honors classes, he earned straight A's his first report card in high school! Needless to say, we are thrilled with how well FOA prepared him for high school and highly recommend this school. There is a definite benefit to small classes and a serious curriculum.

After trying a few different early programs, we are SO happy we found FOA. Our first grader has been here since Pre-K. The teachers are outstanding on so many levels, both personally and professionally. And the course work is both challenging and rewarding throughout each grade. The small teacher to student ratio and personalized attention really show through. We were amazed how quickly our child was focusing, learning, retaining and enjoying her work. FOA is excellent at deciphering and getting through to each child. The course level is still surprising as well. We re always saying, "gee, I can't believe they're learning that already, how wonderful." And when our little 1st grader came home and started speaking simple French, we were thrilled. It s worth mentioning how often we notice the older students being so thoughtful and caring to each other and the younger kids. It's remarkable. We see it all the time. The student body is made up of some really outstanding kids. FOA is competitive and places its students in some of the best private high schools around, and most importantly, it helps children grow into the best people they can be. We are so happy with our choice.

FOA is a great school and the best value for your money in the foothills city areas. I should know as I have all 3 of my kids educated by the techers at this school. The school has excellent teacher to student ratio. Teachers are attentive, highly engaged in making sure that each child does the best he/she can in the class. Kids from this school have been accepted by the leading private schools in the area. School is non-religious it is located on the grounds of the church but it is not affiliated with any church and it does not teach religion. I highly recommend it.

Our family has been with Foothill Oaks for over 12 years. We have three children and two are still at Foothill Oaks. The oldest graduated sometime ago and is currently a sophomore at UCR. FOA is a great environment for kids. The teaching staff shows a lot of passion for what they do as do the administrative staff. We also love the collaborative environment they nurture. FOA's team will do whatever it takes to ensure a child gets through their struggles and beyond. We are also quite pleased with FOA's academics. The oldest one breezed through her first year of high school due to the strong foundation she received from FOA. Last but not least is the value FOA offers. We have looked at other private schools and after taking location, environment, tuition, teachers, admin staff, and academics of course, we find FOA extremely competitive.

Foothill Oaks Academy(FOA) is a wonderful place to study at , Pre-K -- 8th.This year I will be in 8th grade.. I am so happy that our school have lots of actives and events , they are very fun. Every single teachers and staff are very sweet , nice and kind. They willing to help us with any trouble on rather on homework or not, they are all caring and trustable. Sports - Our greatest sport is volleyball, we also have basketball and foot-ball. One thing i think i will recommend to my school is , we should add few more sports so other students can have more choices and might wanna join the sport teams . example badminton , is one of a good sport too. Education is excellent , teachers are great, when we don't understand a lesson or homework, our teachers will willing to go over it again with us. Elementary school 1st-5th, and Middle school 6th - 8th. Students are very nice to each other just like family, to me this is my second home , specially my own class , just like brothers and sisters, teachers are awesome. Foothill Oaks Academy is a great school, i am sure every student who going to or study there loves this school.

This is a private pre-K through 8 school in the San Gabriel valley region of Los Angeles, California. The school offers a comprehensive standards-based curriculum along with a large variety of enrichment classes and after-school programs. Foothill Oaks completes in several league sports (both boys and girls) as well as local math competitions. Their graduates go on to some of the top ranking private schools in the region. many graduates also are accepted into the Monrovia High School Math and Science Academy Honors Program. It's an excellent choice for the money.

Our child has attended FOA for the past 2 school years. She began in the Pre-K program and is now attending Kindergarten. The teachers here are so wonderfully attentive and our child has progressed in so many ways. The personal attention, education and competitive tuition at FOA is so difficult to find anywhere else. The welcomed feedback from parents is also very appreciated. In everything from her actual Kindergarten class to language, technology, art and the fun and creative music programs that they do throughout the year...it has been such a great experience for us!

My child is now in his second year at Foothill Oaks Academy, and doesn't want to even consider going anywhere else! We have had a very positive experience at this school. The small class size works very well for my son, and he gets plenty of individual attention from the excellent teachers. I greatly enjoy interacting with all teachers and parents -- everyone is friendly, pleasant, and extremely helpful. From the principal to the teachers, all gave freely of their time and attention to ensure that my son's education was of the highest quality. I highly recommend Foothill Oaks Academy!
