I LOVE this school! I feel so blessed that my son has had amazing teachers from 1st thru 5th grade. They have all been so caring and attentive to the kids education. The principal, vice principal and all the staff are amazing! I can’t believe that people have had bad experiences in the past. Most definitely the school turned around because I wouldn’t of thought of having my son in any other school than here. Thank RSG staff for all you do for the students and us as parents.

Rio San Gabriel is an amazing school. The principle and staff deeply care for the students and go above and beyond to make the school better. Both my kids go to Rio and love it.

My son is the 3rd generation who is going to RSG. It is a great school with great teachers. Mrs. Barnes is retiring this year in Aug 2014 :( she was a very proactive principle, just what you would want in a principle. The office staff is very helpful, you couldn't ask for a better office staff. They are offering Transitional Kinder(TK) starting 2014/2015 school year and TK and kinder are now full day 8:05-2:00 :) My oldest is going into 2nd in the 2014/2015 school yr(been going since kinder) and my middle is going into kinder. I myself volunteer in my sons class and with PTA. The campus is very clean and safe.

Had two kids, in this school ,my youngest child I had to pull out and put in private school, could not deal any more with their way of teaching, thanks good I was able to do it,,,, and stress that they putting on kids and parent., they don't teach kids anything just give bunch of homework, and you teach them home, buy you had my child all they teach them something, and stop showing them all different way of math, you just confusing them, I remember, just get happy get math homework and we got it how to do it, but tomorrow is different way of doing it same chapter, why not at least teach them one week same way,, even every grown up will be confusing, than what about little ones, I don t know the reason but for me look like they worrying just about star test, some teachers been there for too many years , and they are very cold, You say that kids learn a lot, the way how they teach and how they rushing just confusing kids, I hate it ,coldest school ever,,, not any fun for kids, I know school is for learning, but I also it will be nice that my child like school and teachers, would have a lot to say but I thing that is enough,,,,public shool need some changes for real ........

My daughter's school is RSG home of the Mustangs. I have to say I'm not disappointed with the school itself nor the teaching of the teachers, however, I am very disappointed to hear that this school doesn't honor nor recognize the students when completing 5th grade at this school! My daughter studies hard just like any other student does to reach their goals and being able to move up in grades and the least the school can do just like other schools are doing in to give them a Promotional Ceremony or at least a Promotional Certificate! Had I known this school did no such thing I would have prefered to put my daughter in a school that is not "Distinguished" I called the school this morning to inquire about 5th graders having a ceremony and Ms. Gabby who answered my call advised me that all the 5th graders do is have a party! A party come on that's what these kids families do for them... Leave the parties for the familys and give these kids a ceremony of some sort to show that they are recognized that's what's important..

My daughter has been a RSG student since Kindergarten and so far she has had great teachers. They both made a difference in her education and she is doing well in math and reading. I haven't had any negative experiences and the office staff is friendly. My daughter is proud to attend RSG and to be a Mustang.

If you begin by analyzing the data and see that they have dropped in API the last 5 years and is the lowest growth school in Downey Unified you would wonder why they still boast it is a distinguished school. The school has gotten worse each year since my children arrived. Before upper grade teachers rotated but now they don't. Instead using each other's strengths to help the students, they are not willing to rotate. It just seems to me that decisions are being made to keep adults (including parents) happy rather than what is best for kids.
