Descanso Elementary is an outstanding school. Small class size and enthusiastic teachers make it a win-win for my children. I wouldn’t send my kids anywhere else!

Descanso Elementary exceeded my expectations. My child was a kindergartner this past year and I am so impressed with the methodology used to teach these children. The environment is positive, welcoming and empowers each child to become a leader. I am so glad I chose this school for my child over the private school I was considering. The teachers and staff are exceptional, caring and take pride in there roles as educators.

As a parent with children attending this school I have to say that my children are learning so much in a safe, healthy and loving environment. I have seen positive changes in the school this year with student safety when entering and exiting the campus. The principal is approachable and is always interacting with students. The test scores are impressive! I love this small school and the awesome staff that works there.

The teachers are still great but it's just not the same anymore. Its run like a jail now on full lockdown. The morning and after school programs have become severly limited and so many restrictions placed on how and when you can pickup and drop off your child. The principal has talked down to my and other people's children on a number of occasions even raised her voice condesindingly to a friend's kid who is on an IEP for a disability which resulted in her removing her kid from the school. The school even limits the games kids can play on the playground, just so many limitations and restrictions being placed on parents, students, and teachers it's making it difficult to find joy in learning.This school use to be part of a great community and now I feel like I'm dropping my child off at an institution. I'm heartbroken over some of the changes and ways parents and kids are being treated and I feel the frustrations of staff too.

This school has went down hill fast over the past 3-5 years. API score is incorrect and this inaccuracy is known by the superintendent. Several concerned parents have requested meetings with principals & superintendent, only to be turned away. Enrollment is at an all time low & continuing to drop. Beware!
