The most expensive kindergarten my son ever attended. While the facilities are shiny and the environment is gorgeous, I did not get the sense that this "school" was anything more than a glorified summer camp. The educational quality varies wildly and standards are inconsistent across subjects and even between individual teachers. I was unimpressed with many of the teachers, who seemed to lean too heavily on online toys and games. My son consistently reported that he had no homework and received straight A's every term. I feel that the entire curriculum lacks depth. English readings consisted of graphic novels and recently published didactic texts about social justice rather than historically important works of literature. Band and choir repertoire leaned heavily on recent radio hits rather than classic pieces. Lots of movie watching in history, math focused on online widgets instead of working out problems by hand. I will say that my son had a wonderful experience learning French, which was the highlight of his day. The visual arts were also wide-ranging and well taught.Sports were constant and seemed to dictate the schedule. My son was on a third-tier soccer team (his choice, he's not athletically inclined) and there were still weeks when he had 3-4 away games, including weekend games. There are no alternative options for students who would prefer to spend their afternoons honing a skill other than athletics. The student body here skews to the "unbelievably wealthy" end of the spectrum. Money talks and every year there were 2-3 students who were disruptive and abusive but whom the school refused to discipline on the basis of the family pocketbook. Bullying, often based along racial/national lines, was widespread, and as long as it didn't occur right in front of the teachers' faces it was ignored. You could send three students to a good state university for the money it costs to send a single student to Eaglebrook School. If you live in Massachusetts, take advantage of your world-class public schools and keep them away from this gilded playground for the ultra-rich.

This was a difficult decision for us as we are both public school parents. But I can say it was the the most remarkable school for our son. He was a day boy and it truly chnaged his life for the better. He went on to a private high school but several of his freinds did not. All did well where thay landed and all will be attending outstanding colleges this fall. I have heard of a few kids who don't feel they fit in but the school is really on top of any nonsense and will immediately put a stop to it. Eaglebrook was truly the best experience of his life and he made friends for life. go if you can, you will never find a more caring, rigorous and loving school.
