My son is a Freshman this year (2024), and I am so impressed with this school. They also offer services to the community, such as; grooming/veterinarian services, bistro for lunch, and cosmetology services. They also stress academics as well as their vocational courses.

When I came to Essex Tech, I tought it was this great school where everyting is "perfect" in a way, but I was completely wrong. In my freshman year I had pretty good experiences with the school, but as I got to my sophomore year, I found that the school had gotten pretty bad over the summer break. Many problems included teachers not happy w/ contract negotiations, mental health issues, too much students, cages/locks on bathrooms, and more which I won't list. Though the school keeps denying all this, we all know whats going on, parents get these emails that say "this is happening but nothing is wrong" and parents keep thinking everything is fine when it clearly isn't. I don't know how, but in general the school has gotten MUCH worse and gone straight downhill in just a year.

Absolutely horrific place for anyone who doesn’t fit into the norm. If you don’t play sports, then don’t even bother coming here- that’s all the administration even cares about. Shame on this place.
