Hillcrest has the best set of administrators in a long time. Mrs. Staggers and Mr. Baldwin are a wonderful asset to this school district. I hope they continue to have the support around them. This is what we need.

Hillcrest Middle School is an outstanding school with FABULOUS students. Our school, however, lacks in funding when compared to others in the district and we could use all the help we could get. We serve students in grades 6-8 from very diverse backgrounds. This year our school has maintained our "B" rating on the state report card even with the higher standards set. That was very good, considering many others in the state dropped. Our goal is to get an "A" rating this year. We set high expectations for our students and ourselves. GO WILDCATS!!!

This is my son's third year at HMS. I have noted that the teachers are sincerely concerned about their students. It is important to me that the teachers make connections with me, the parent, and with my child who will spend a major portion of his day with the teachers of HMS. I would like to see more active participation from other parents as education is a collaborative event. With the present leadership, as with the last principal, the focus is on what is best for the students while maintaining a safe and friendly environment. There are opportunities for the students to participate in service learning projects, Relay for Life, American Heart Walk, National Junior Honor Society and Jr. Civitans to name a few. Students wear uniforms with planned dress down days throughout the year. This school has provided a great experience for my son!

Hillcrest Middle School is a GREAT school where students are encouraged to do their best and to help others who are struggling with academics or self-esteem. Our motto is "Believing, Achieving, and Succeeding in Academics, Citizenship, and Service. The staff at Hillcrest are family friendly and work together to ensure that all students are learning in a safe environment. I love working at Hillcrest because of the caring and considerate individuals who take pride in their work no matter what the job title may be. Our school can improve by creating more service learning projects for the students and providing an after school tutoring program with transportation home for interested students and parents.

This school has just received a complete overhaul of getting a new Principal and Asst. Principal and the atmosphere already, is delightful, warm, welcoming and trusting!! You have to feel that you can trust the people that are overseeing your child's environment for at least 8 hours every day, 5 days a week, and know that those involved in their learning process, truly care and want them to succeed - and this school, especially now, with the new upper staff, seem like they are actually putting your child and their education and welfare first!! You would be ignorant in NOT having your child enrolled in this school! But you must hurry, because they fill up fast, as they are known around the area, to be the best middle school for the district and beyond. You can also make requests for specific teachers if you desire, because they have male teachers, if you want your child to have a male figure involved in their learning, at this time in their developmental lives! Great sports, uses computers in their media center regularly, but they need more funding, and need more parent involvement!! I understand they are working on this though!! Great new Principal!! Pur your chld here!!

This school truely is one of the best you'll find. I've recently have been moving alot and changing school, from Sumter to Aliken, West Columbia and recently Columbia;unfortunately I haven't found or had a funner time than at Hillcrest. I was a previous student and I certainly wish I still was.
