All I have to say is I moved out of town to get out of this school and district. They didn't each spelling till my oldest was in 3rd grade and didn't have a program to actually teach it so they handed the kids a list and expected them to to know it at the end of the week with no lessons in between. Every year I had an issue with a teacher who was more worried about common core learning than the way your child learned. And then their school nurse lied about me and reported me to dcfs in retaliation which guess what they figured out was just not true. The last two years in Woodstock have been a dream for my childrens education since politics and poor teaching has been taken out of their education and they are both on high honor roll.

This school is one of the main reasons we decided to live here. Great neighborhood school with active and involved teachers and administrators- good communication! We are so happy to have our kids at South!

This is an excellent school - one of the best in the district and I would argue the county. There are other schools with similar test scores, stats, etc, but this one stands out for the compassion the staff shows to the kids.

Great school, my son only spent one full year here, but we loved it. Can't wait for my daughter to start here in fall.

My daughter has been attending South Elementary since January of 2015. She adores it. Her teachers have been fantastic and caring. She has made wonderful friends. I was very impressed that the philosophy communicated to the children was around kindness. The facilities are excellent and it is small enough that she never feels overwhelmed. I'm glad we made the decision to keep her here instead of moving to the city.

We couldnt have chosen a better school! The principle, teachers, extended programs and counselors are truly helpful and more than accomodating. Full time Kindergarten was an awesome choice and much less expensive than the park districts or private preschools. The quality of education is not found too often, and the teachers willingness to help our children during a few tough months, exceeded our expectations. Thanks South!

I am very happy with South! There is a lot of parent involvement and a real sense of school pride. My son looks forward to going to school and is learning a lot; they're clearly doing something right. I'm looking forward to enrolling my second son when the time comes!

South Elementary has a great team of teachers and staff. My kids have great pride in their school and so do I. The teachers and staff went to great lengths to help my son when he was going through separation anxiety in first grade going from a half day of school to a full day. They worked hard to get to know him and buddied him up with kids who had a similar personality, which are his best friends to date! I am extremely thankful to South Elementary for helping turn school into a fun place that my boys look forward to going to all school year long! I wish I could give this school a10 star rating!

South is a great school. It is small enough for the kids to feel 'at home' and not just a 'number.' We have had great experiences with teachers and staff over the years.
