Very Poor. The enrollment numbers continue to decline.

The smaller class sizes are ideal for learning. The relationship between teachers/staff and parents is almost like an extended family. Just like anything in life you get what you pay for. And a better quality education may cost more than Public School but the outcome from Catholic School is priceless. Why wait till college to set our children up for success when it could be done now? That what this school is doing preparing our children for the real world with the added bonus of morals and values.

We chose to enroll our children at Monsignor McHugh because of the smaller class sizes and family like atmosphere. We feel truly blessed that they attend a school that places value on christian faith and helps to provide them with a strong moral compass. At MMS, they stress the importance of self-discipline and commitment, which will better prepare our children for their future. Another draw for us was that they encourage family input and involvement in the ongoing education of their students. Enrolling at MMS was by far the best decision we ever made for our children!

My child loves the school and is thriving. I'm particularly excited to see her starting to love reading on her own, since this was a subject she typically struggled with.

Extremely positive. Both parents are educators and choose this school for several reasons, including rigor, environment, and small class sizes.

The school has been through 3 principals in 3 years. The curriculum in itself is mediocre. They are not tech savvy at all. They don't take a serious approach in using technology in the classroom or for its own administration. Like anyplace else, some teachers are better than others. They make frequent mistakes and there is a general lack of effective leadership and growth. The school in itself is old, has a mold smell to it, and lacks air conditioning. In the winter, the heating system has broken several times. The bus system is horrible. so be prepared to drop off and pick up your children. However, this school is able to offer more attention to children than the larger schools, despite its shortcomings. The bullying is kept in check so the children don't feel overwhelmed. Its clean and the grounds are kept extremely well. All in all the school is probably the best in the region. It isn't saying much but for a resort area, where the majority of adults either work in or cater to tourists in order to make a living, its as good as it gets. There is a fair amount of prejudice from the locals and a dislike toward people from New York and New Jersey. You can't expect much from such a rural area and you're choices are limited. There's just not enough people to offer a talented workforce, or competition to keep them on their toes. I find it necessary to supplement the education at home with additional materials. When I was a kid, I went to catholic school and was offered a superior education. I believe because it was taught by the nuns. They don't have nuns here. Some dedication is missing. We all know the Catholic Church has been going through a lot of trials with the scandals of sexual abuse. They don’t have a bona fide church anymore and seek to raise money to build anew. If they put the schools needs first, instead of seeking ways to fill their coffers, they would regain the respect they so desperately need and regain the following they once had.

We have had a wonderful two years so far. And will be attending for our 3rd year. My son will be entering kindergarten. We love how it’s small and it’s like a family. Love that when I’m able to volunteer I can see my son. He loves it! I love how they are teaching the kids about god my son knows his prayers at 5 already. We love the teachers as well I’ve gotten to know many while helping in the school. We also have a new principal who making wonderful changes. We look forward to the new school year.

We are entering our third year with MMS. The size of the classes are fantastic. This school not only has a great learning enviornment for the students it is also very safe. There are many activities and events for parents and families to be involved in.

We have been part of the MMS family for 4 years now and are extremely happy with the staff & curriculum. The class sizes are perfect for elementary aged students and the school offers a learning environment focusing on positive feedback and Christian morals. There are numerous activities and extra-curricular events which parents and students can be a part of. We feel we are part of MMS, not simply a number within the system.

I have 2 daughters and have been with the school for 10 years. I love how all the students and teachers in grades K-8 know each other and treat each other like family. MMS provides a safe environment for the kids as well as an excellent education and preparation for high school. My girls loved their K-8 grade experiences. As parents, we are very pleased with the teachers and staff and are so happy to have made the choice to enroll our girls at Monsignor McHugh School 10 years ago.

My children have been attending this school for just over a year now and we love it. We came from public school and I had craved the small environment where every one in the school knows and looks out for one another. The administration takes the time to learn what makes each a child “click” and communicates often with parents. We are very happy and plan on spending the next 8 years here.

I highly agree with the comments that have been posted by other parents about the way teachers scream , the way they teach. My child started here in 3rd grade, now in 6th. The only reason she is still there is because all schools suck here. Her 4th & 5th grade year she had a horrible experience with one teacher , with all complaints against this teacher she is still there!!! She is one teacher that I would not want to teach my child , pushes children to the side when they don't understand & continues with lessons when the whole class doesn't understand and , doesn't communicate with parents very well even when told she can contact them with anything. They go through principles a lot . I feel at time I'm wasting money but you do for your child.

We spent four years and then left. At first it seemed like everything was great, but we soon came to realize that the sub-par teacher run the school rather than the principal. Most of the teachers are known for screaming. Compared to other schools, the curriculum is lacking. The principals (three in our time) do not correct the issues nor does the diocese. So many inappropriate behaviors are accepted--teachers grabbing children roughly, yelling and berating them, plagiarism, favoritism, the list goes on and on. The teachers will even bring up whatever issues you've discussed with the principal in the classroom! We really loved this school in the beginning, but once we saw its true colors we could no longer live with it. Unfortunately for us, it was two years too late.

Both my kids attended McHugh. Both are now in college and one is earning a Masters Summer 2015. This may seem dated however the teacher who my son had a most unpleasant experience with is still entrusted the care of the very young according to the school website. for more see shawnmeenan.weebly.com My daughter was "behind" when she transitioned to public school system as a result of having attended McHugh. Do yourself and your kids a favor and do not send them here.
