Great families attend Eastside. Our child has met many good friends who have made positive impacts.

The staff at Eastside work hard to prepare students. Eastside students have received many state accolades and have done well on state and national tests. If I am not mistaken, Eastside has the number one academic team in the state!!! The teachers, administrators, and staff care a great deal about the students, and they make all decisions focused on what's best for the kids! Go see Eastside to learn for yourself.

Eastside is a decent facility, well maintained thanks to the custodial staff but is somewhat lacking overall. The teachers generally do not care about the students and the Math department is known county wide for not teaching the students, especially during their freshmen year. Most of the school's funding goes into the football team. There is not much issue disciple wise but there have been bomb threats and multiple drug arrests. It is the best school in Newton County but it is still not a very good school. The staffing needs to change before that can happen.

Grateful that my Eastside student got to participate in an Academic Bowl competition. After 5 rounds they were 8th out of 60 teams. Opportunities abound.

My daughter is a junior at Eastside. We have lived in the area for 15 years and moved just so she could attend this school. If you live on the eastern side of Atlanta, in my opinion it is the best high school around, including adjoining counties. The administration is great, very strong and the teachers really care about the kids. They offer more AP and Quest classes than Rockdale, Walton or Morgan, and believe me they are tough - we feel our daughter will be well prepared for college. The school does a great job communicating and the band program is also especially good if your kid is into music. I would highly recommend Eastside.

I couldn't help but notice that a lot of reviews on this site are very dated. Just a word of advice for people actually using this site to help make decisions about schools for your children, much can change in the course of a year or two for any school. I currently have a student in their second year at Eastside. To date, the experience has been very positive. There is a strong core of very qualified and passionate teachers at this school. In addition, the administration that has been in place for the last two years is very strong as well. To my knowledge, there is a very good working relationship between the teachers and the administration. Of the three high schools in our county, Eastside is in fact the smallest from a footprint and number of students perspective. Is that a bad thing? Eastside offers classes at various levels to challenge your student regardless of their ability level. For those students wanting more rigor, AP courses in several subjects are also available. Eastside offers various opportunities for activities outside of the classroom as well (sports, band, clubs, etc.). Are things perfect? Of course they aren't, but we are in the right place for us.

I currenty attend this school and i am transfering to a different school in a couple months, do NOT go there unless you want to be miserable, the school is terrible and boring and it was also meant to be a middle school so its very small so you wont even feel like your in high school.

Eastside is a terrible school. I'm currently a student there and I don't even feel like I'm in high school. It's way too small and overcrowded. The lockers are extremely small for the book we have. The teachers are pretty good. The best thing about this school is the block schedule and they are changing that next year. I wouldn't not recommend this school to anyone that wants a real high school experience.
