My son attended this school. I was so excited to get him in the aerospace program which was not what I expected. The teachers rarely did hands on activities mostly boring book work. Electives were limited at the school not giving kids the opportunity to explore creativity. Some teachers were great and some were not invested in students education. For the resources given to the school, I don't feel the teacher engage in the students. would not recommend this school

Instead of complaining about this school I chose to dig in and volunteer. Like many schools there is bullying and, fights and those that make bad choices, but it is up to the parents to stand in an help make this school better for our children. I love this school and the staff. Very little parent support maybe that's a reason some of the bad apples are able to continue to do what they do. I personally call students out on bad behavior. My child is an A student with high regards from teachers and peers alike. Be the Parent that you would like your children to aspire to be. STOP complaining about what's not right and make it right!

I am a parent of a 6th grader at this school. We have had nothing but problems at this school since the beginning of the school year. There is a lot of bulling going on and the administration does very little to intervene. The administration does not listen to the parents or to the students. I am so disappointed with this school and the administration. Rockdale County needs to reevaluate who they put in these schools to run them. As a parent I should not have to worry about the safety of my child while he is at school. My child has been called names and been punched in the arms, stomach and leg by at least 7 other children since the beginning of the school year. The teachers turn their head to this kind of behavior, and do nothing to intervene also. I have went to the school more than 10 times and have already contacted the county office. One morning while I was waiting in the front office to talk to the principle there were 4 fights before 8:45. I am at a loss now and not sure what my next step should be.

My son first started Conyers Middle school in the 6th grade. I must say that was the worst school year. My son had terrible teachers and the administration was also bad. My son has special needs and not one of his teachers showed sensitively to his needs. The staff labeled my son which impacted his learning. Because of the lack of support my sons grades were low and he did not pass any of his CRCT. I complained may times during the year with no support from administration. Upon my son entering grade 7 the administration changed with a new Assistant Principle as well as a new Principle " Mr White" I could see the change in the teachers attitude which I feel makes a successful learning environment. My son had good teachers which resulted in his confidence being stronger and my sons grade raised to A's and B's and passing all his CRCTS. Now a 8th grade student I get nothing but great reports on my son. The 8th grade teachers are wonderful !!! The principle is available to the parents and goes out of his way to communicate your child's accomplishments directly to the parent. I am proud to say my son is at a school with caring and qualified Educators.

This school shouldn't be well recommended. Most of the teachers are awfully rude and tend to sometimes hit some of the kids. They are also rake there anger out on them. The lunch staff is also rude they served about the nastiest food ever my chicken would sometimws be pink and I would tend to have hair in it also that place is unsanitary. Even the janitorial staff is rude and some of them don't even speak english. One time one of the male janitors swept up a child's ice cream when they had dropped it on the floor other than handing it back to the student that dropped it and another time another janitor bumped into a student that had a bowl of hot grits in there hand and simply walked away.I can say one good thing is that Mr.White the principal is doing a excellent job but other than that if I could give this school no stars I would.

I am a parent of Conyers Middle School. I have a High Schooler who attended CMS and a 6th grader who is there now. The current administration has been so helpful with answering questions and with the transition from ES to MS. Mr. White has done a remarkable job at CMS in the short time he's been there compared to my previous experiences almost 3 years ago. I am very pleased and excited about the direction CMS is headed and have several other children who will attend CMS. The current administration in place is awesome and the staff mirrors them. Keep up the great job CMS administration and teachers!! Signed, Proud Parent of a CMS Student

I read comments posted on here and there are 2 sides maybe 3 sometimes to every story. If parents are more involved with what their children are doing and visit the school now that the new Principal has taken over, they will see a 100% improvement in this school. I have had other children attend Conyers Middle School in the past and since the new Administration has been there I have been pleasantly pleased with the positive changes that have been made. To the parent that had the student involved in the fight....since there are no doors on the restroom, could your son not have yelled for help? I hope he is doing well but I disagree with your assessment of how the situation was handled. I saw the news and I volunteer at the school so I have firsthand knowledge of what is going on at Conyers Middle School. Most involved parents will have better information when they choose to volunteer at their children's schools. We need more parents to get and stay involved with the education of their children and support of the ones in charge of educating our children. Keep up the good work Mr. White! We are on a mission and I am proud to be an involved parent at Conyers Middle School!

Our school has new administration and some new faces in the classrooms. Our school is well-known for its academic and athletics programs. I have had some great experiences there.

I have had 2 daughters attend Conyers Middle School between 2002-2009 and never really felt that the school had an open door policy. Communication between the parents, staff and administration was not a priority for the Principal. My 3rd daughter is attending the school now and I initially had reservations about letting her attend. I met the new Principal and signed up to volunteer and I have noticed a dramatic change in staff morale, communication from the school and an open door policy with the Principal. There are the usual issues that come with middle school, but overall I am proud to be a Conyers Middle School parent! Parental involvement has increased, and I have heard other parents from other schools talk about how they have been hearing positive comments from other parents about our school since our new Principal has taken over. Mr. White has chosen to lead by example. He has garnered much respect and admiration from students and faculty since he took over as Principal in October, 2012. He has been an asset in providing vital information to parents and students in a timely manner. I also believe that his vision will take us to the next level of being a great school!

I was a student at CMS from 6 to 7th grade. It was the the worst school by far i have expeirenced. The staff is very unprofessional and unsuportive. The band teacher would yell and scream more than teach. The new principal mr. White is on the ball and actually gets active in the classes. There are many fights and the cafateria staff was rude and lazy. Alot of times the staff didnt really punish kids. The worst part about this school is the car riders program. They didnt care about the kids at all! They stood there and talked the entire time, and we couldnt hear our car rider numbers being called. The teacher ms. Jarvis yelled constanly and was extremely rude. There are a few good teachers in the school, but very few. I am going to the STEM program this year at Memorial. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL OR THE DISTRICT!

Overall disappointing experience for my daughter. She only attended 6th grade before I pulled her out. Teachers not involved, lack of communication with parents and just all around disappointing for this crucial transition to high school. And after talking with friends who have children at other middle schools, the same can be said of the other middle schools in the county. We will be moving out of the county to find better options.

The best thing I can say about this school is that during the fights that breakout, the children are locked in their classrooms. The communication is slack at best, the majority of the teachers fail to ever respond, the principal never once responded to any of my emails though the assistant female principal was one of the most pleasing. If they had their act together with regards to readying their children, had a curriculum that would teach the children, held their children accountable, and invoked a true no tolerance policy then this school would improve vastly. The minority race is who suffers most as it is in all schools, unfortunately. There are some teachers there that are in the gifted education section that truly do care and stay in touch with the parents. These are the teachers that actually make a difference though they are smothered by the lesser ones that bring the school down considerably. All in all, I would look at another district even though the school attempts to get better with each passing year.
