As a student at Cox Mill High School, I can confidently say it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the first day, I felt supported by passionate teachers and a strong community focused on student success. The academic rigor is one of the school’s standout features, with a wide variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and challenging electives that help foster intellectual growth. The teachers are not only experts in their fields but also genuinely care about our success, going above and beyond to ensure we succeed. What sets Cox Mill apart is the level of support students receive. Teachers are approachable, always willing to offer help, and the counselors are dedicated to guiding us through everything from academic challenges to college applications. The school prioritizes mental health as well, offering resources for emotional support that are invaluable during high school’s most stressful moments.Beyond academics, Cox Mill excels in extracurricular activities, offering a wide range of clubs, sports, and leadership opportunities. There’s a place for every student to explore their passions, develop new skills, and build lifelong friendships. Whether in sports or academic clubs, the spirit of camaraderie is strong, and I’ve been able to participate in activities that have shaped my personal and professional growth. The school also fosters a strong sense of community. From pep rallies to service projects, Cox Mill brings students together and encourages us to support one another. I’ve been involved in volunteer opportunities that have made a real impact, and the inclusive atmosphere has made me feel a part of something larger than myself. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, supporting both academic learning and extracurricular activities. The library is a great resource, and the athletic fields are top-notch. Additionally, Cox Mill prepares students well for life after high school, with resources for college readiness, career exploration, and hands-on training programs for those pursuing vocational paths. In sum, Cox Mill High School offers a perfect balance of academic challenge, personal growth, and community involvement. It’s a place where students are encouraged to reach their full potential, both inside and outside the classroom. If you’re considering Cox Mill, know you’ll be joining a school dedicated to helping students succeed and grow in all aspects of life.

My kids hated this school. We live in Highland Creek. We are not a wealthy family, and can only JUST afford to live there. My kids always felt inferior here because they didn't come from a wealthy family. They didn't have new and brand name stuff all the time, etc. It's a super snobby school, period. Also, the children I adopted were both passed through here with completely failing grades. They were given diplomas, allowed to "walk" at graduation, etc. None of my kids were properly prepared for college or even for graduation. But they pass them through to keep their numbers up here. 9/10! 10/10 college preparedness. Completely inaccurate.

The school is ok. The office staff is awful. I would consider training the staff or replacing them completely. I have personally witnessed them being rude to parents and students.

Cox Mill is not a bad school at all academically; however, the environment, like any high school, does come with some challenges. I have heard many different students, including myself, experience racism or discrimination but learning wise, majority of the teachers do a very well job at what they do.Unfortunately, the staff is not diverse. You can probably count all the black employees on one hand. The only black representatives in that school are ISS teachers, sports coaches, and disciplinary figures.

My school does not provide school spirit with learning. Compare to many high schools, Coxmills lacks in variety of clubs and extra curriculum activities. They don't share fair policy in there cheerleading selection. That was the experience my daughter had over the years. Hopefully it will change with newer schools in the area. I wish it had been difference.

Very negative experience with Cox Mill. I would not trust them to have the best interest for children who do not help drive their statistics and test scores up.

The Cox Mill Administration is bureaucratic, abusive, and elitist.

The students will be well-prepared for college after attending Cox Mill High. The teachers and staff are accommodating and involved. There is free tutoring available if a student does struggle, however, with with the academic rigor, clubs, arts, athletics and other programs made available, college will not come as a shock. Many students are accepted into multiple highly rated colleges (Duke, UNC, Columbia, among others) and are well equipped to thrive at these colleges. Furthermore, the principal and office staff are kind and readily available to students and parents when needed. We are so thankful to have our child in this school and would not have it any other way.

I am currently a sophomore attending Cox Mill High School, no school is perfect, every school will have something you won't like about it. But this is a great school. Great Academics, Athletics, and a great Fine Arts department. Good staff, and for the most part I've been happy with my experience At Cox Mill. We where currently rated number 14 of good high school a on the east coast.

Cox Mill has provided a wonderful educational experience for three of my children. Their course selection is full of AP opportunities and innovative subjects like Mandarin Chinese. Although the school is relatively new, their sports program is competitive. I have never had any issue that was not handle quickly and positively by teachers or administration.

Cox Mill High School has been a wonderful experience for our student. There have been plenty of academic and extracurricular opportunities, with an outstanding music program. Also, the administration has been very welcoming of parental involvement. We have never had a problem with faculty and staff communication as referenced by previous commenters. With very few exceptions, the faculty and staff have been very professional. I'm thankful that our student has had such a positive high school career.

Unlike the students prior comments, I as a parent have always received return calls from administrators and teachers alike. With the help of our guidance dept and our brilliant children Cox Mill brought in almost 5 million in scholarship funds. The choices in AP classes available is second to none. Love this school.

This school needs to get its act together. Some of the best teachers and administrators are dropping like flies because they are sick of putting up with this school just as much as the students are. The administration is the worst part. Don't ever expect to get any response when you're trying to contact anyone. The guidance department is a joke. I once sent in three appointment requests and emailed my guidance counselor only to never get a response. Absolutely no help at all. Probably one of the worst schools in Cabarrus County. This one is a definite miss.
