We have moved, but greatly enjoyed our time at HCE. The school was a caring and warm place for my child and I felt like she got a world class education there. Remember, scores aren't everything…the wonderful community matters.

My son has been at Highland Creek since 1st grade and will be entering his final year next year and I must say it has been an absolute pleasure. I feel he is challenges academically and every teacher has been patient and open to collaboration. The PTA truly goes above and beyond and as a result the kids have school dances, movie nights, carnivals and after school clubs. It truly has a family feel. I'll be saddened to see our time with the school end.

We had a wonderful Kindergarten year, first grade was a nightmare. Classroom behavior was so disruptive that each student received a bad report each day in their agenda, because the kids couldn't function. No response for communication about the disruptions. It's near impossible for the students who want to learn to be able to. The PTA is down to two board members, and there's only a few roles filled- they too left for greener pastures. Saxton is sinking the ship- school was a 9 four years ago, and here were are at a 5. Easy to see why folks say move to the Cabarrus side in Highland Creek. A night and day experience!

Need I say more? We love this school. You can research all you want and base your decision on a school with a higher score. Numbers do not tell the whole story. If you want your child to educated while learning to be a well-rounded person, this is one school that does just that.

My child had an awesome teacher this year. Everything else was lackluster. I felt inundated with daily emails and phone calls. Most times I didn't want to answer my phone because there is constant soliciting of funds. I felt that the events only benefited the residents of Highland Creek and not the surrounding communities. The PTA president doesn't respond to any communication via email, phone or text but they will cash your membership check.

My child is in 1st grade. Despite its score, I am not really impressed with the school, although the ASEP staff is fantastic, and dedicated to the kids. Communication is not the school's forte; in several instances, it has been difficult to get feedback from the teacher, from the PTA, and from the Principal as well. The last winter/Christmas party consisted of feeding the kids ice cream, and playing some inappropriate music (i.e. Chris Brown among others); that was to say the least disturbing, lazy, and showed a lack of accountability by the school's administration. Finally, as a public school, the relief of HCE should not consist of favoring the Highland Creek HOA, as shown by the future demographics.

Excellent school though over crowded. Principal that is concerned about all students not just the one's who have parents that volunteer all the time and give money. Great activities at the school, lots of extra curricular activities. New principal last year and some parents who were used to running things at the school are bothered. I'm more concerned about the education my child is getting than the feeling of parents who think their opinions outweight those of educators.

This school used to be a great school, but it just isn't that way anymore. Teachers are unhappy; parents are unhappy; I guess students like it okay, but it's just not what I signed on for. My 5th grader will be moving on next year and let me just say, it can't happen soon enough. It's no surprise so many teachers left last year and mass exit of students to charters also.

Great staff and the PTA is very active at the school. So far the new principal has showed tremendous leadership.

This school is a really great place to be. We walk to school and the teachers are fantastic. It's big (too big in my opinion), but it's a public school and it seems no one can be turned away. I am sending my third child to kindergarten this year and am confident he'll be prepared for future learning.

We moved here a year and a half ago from Las Vegas, NV and I was very nervous about moving my (then) third grader to a new school. However, I consider myself blessed to have found this amazing community school! From the Principal and his staff, to the teachers and the parents, this school is top notch! I would not hesitate one bit to recommend this school to a newcomer!

Highland Creek is top notch. Every child is treated fairly and equitably. Discipline is handled in a calm but firm manner and volunteerism in the class room, clearly demonstrates the partnership between school and home, teacher and parent. I came form another school and the atmosphere between the two schools is almost night and day. It's a fun place for learning.

I love Highland Creek because it is a fantastic place to not only work but it is filled with fantastic students and parents! I think that our school provides excellent educational opportunities for our students. We challenge not only our students but ourselves to impact learning and be the best we can be!
