not good not enough challenged for those who need it in special classes from what I 've been seeing over the years needs to be improved like other schools

Lonely, sad, bored, panicked, rushed, tired, silenced, and avoiding confrountation at all times. Not a fun learning experience. No room to think for yourself. Cookie-cutter assignments every day.

I don't understand the negative comments, other than maybe the parents are as involved or the reviews are old. Clawson is a safe city & an equally safe school district. You can literally see the police station from the high school & middle school! The high school has had limited offerings in the past, but is really improving the class options & other choices available to students. My daughter is currently taking classes at OCC while attending CHS - giving her college credit while the district pays for her tuition & books. My son is at the middle school right now & has been taking high school math at CHS while still in middle school. The counselors & admins have been making sure that advanced math classes will be available for the kids that will be on this course when they go to high school. I love that the teachers, counselors & principals know my kids. Its a great school & a great city.

So many fights! Between the middle school and high school there seems to be a fight nearly every day. A few really GREAT kids, also some REALLY disrespectful kids too though. It's the school's job to provide a safe environment. Fail.

I have two children attending CHS and one that just graduated. Clawson is a wonderful school & an awesome community. The small size is essential for making sure your kid doesn't get lost in the crowd. Parental involvement is appreciated at every level in the district. The negative reviews about curriculum & older teachers are no longer relevant as the high school has added more choices & the majority of the teachers & staff are quite young, very energetic & extremely involved with the kids. Clawson has excellent extra circular activities. The new fields look great & the fine arts program at CHS - from visual arts classes to strings are amazing. The administrators & teachers are approachable & have a real interest in the student's futures.

The older reviews of CHS are very misleading. The class selection may not be as vast as much larger schools, Clawson DOES have a very diverse class selection. There is a creative writing class, in addition to an Honor's English class, integrated studies, grammar & tech writing. Clawson also offers a personal finance elective where students can learn about investing and real world financial applications - a skill kids desperately need. And, you also have opportunities to go off campus to Casa or OTec where you can take other advanced study classes or learn the ins and outs of a trade & get real job skills. The best part of Clawon is that my kid isn't just another number passing through the halls. My kid is a name, a face & a family & the Clawson staff, coaches & administrators know that. They strive to help however they can & add a personal experience that is very needed during high school.

Small is beautiful. The size of Clawson allows teachers and administrators to implement change quickly and efficiently. In my experience students have access to some of the highest curriculum around. Great place to live and send your kids to school.

Clawson may be a small community, but everything is swept under the carpet ! School policies are not enforced whatsoever. Dress code, cell phones, social media during the school day, are all ignored. Bullying, sexual harassment, are rampant. Kids sharing inappropriate videos and taking these videos have landed a few in the news the past few years, as well as bomb threats ( Everyone else knew who was doing it, but nothing was ever done to catch and prosecute the student ) The lack of discipline in the district starts at the top and moves to the administration at the high school. Lots of money spent on technology and upgrades, but it doesn't change the fact that the school is coming apart at the seams. Teachers are left helpless, to try and keep order and discipline as the administration is totally ineffective. Likes the title and the attention, spends more time socializing with the younger students during the school day. Wants to be "Their Friend". Financially, the entire district is hurting and as we lose good staff and teachers, the atmosphere will continue to deteriorate. So, buyer...beware. After your kids leave one of the two elementary schools in town and move on, your head will be spinning as to what in the world has just happened !
