This school has been so amazing for my personal life and everything beyond it. This school has been able to provide me with the necessary life skills and personal memorable friendships along the way.

If your student is in the top 10% or so it is great. Unfortunately for the other 90% it is mediocre at best and in many respects poor to horrible. The school has a broken college essay prep program, with bad timing, poor support and, an extremely lackluster counseling department. The "we have always done it that way, why would we change or improve" attitude is ever present. One bright shining star (to give credit where due) is the S.A.I.L program which is phenominal at all levels. Administration is improving (maybe, it remains to be seen). In the instances of having the audacity to challenge a teacher on almost anything it is met with disdain and subterfuge and no sense of accountability to the parent what so ever (I can get that for free at a public school) and very much a cover your backside circling of the wagons attitude.Started out loving the school, by end of year one had some yellow flag misgivings now I would not send another child there and would opt for one of the single gender schools (Moeller, St X., St Ursula, Ursuline, etc...)

I had a 2020 grad and McNicholas was a great experience. He is now at UC and received a few scholarships due to his excellent education at McNicholas. I currently have another child who will graduate from McNicholas in 2025. He loves it! Both of my children played many sports and made friendships quickly. I do not agree with any negative reviews, it was not my experience. Enrollment at McNicholas is up and it is because it is a great school!

Our daughter is doing great at McNick. She enjoys her teachers, the classes are fun and engaging. She also has the opportunity to play multiple sports each year. The school had recently added a mental health counselor. You can really feel that things are moving in a positive direction, as shown by the numbers of students that growing in recent classes.

Teachers are subpar. Admin and support are meh. Students will not welcome you if you are not from Forest Hills. Transferring.

Unacceptable. My kids have to put up with some truly terrible teachers. Earlier my son came home only to complain about his math teacher being rude to him. He has also complained several times about his english teacher. And the fact that i have to VACCINATE MY CHILDREN and this school is just not worth it.I should have just sent them to Moeller.

Poor. You expect more from a school that charges tuition at this price point, and had a cross hanging out front. School is shrinking, and there is a reason why.

The administration of this school needs to be replaced. They have no moral compass.

All three of my children have attended Mcnicholas high. I absolutely disagree with the negative feedback regarding leadership at this school. We had our sons shadow at other local schools such as St. Xavier, Moeller and Summit Country Day. My children and I felt more comfortable with the overall choice of McNicholas. Many families were promoting their sons to go to St X for the "prestige" ... my son would have been in the St. Xavier Honors House- we did not want our child to be one of ?400 in his freshman class. Moeller was geared toward athletics and my sons updated me that there was "clowning around" throughout their shadowing experience. Lastly, we did not prefer Summit due to no band and no children from the parish were attending this school- only the parish around Summit. Overall, the Mcnick experience has reinforced the life style and chrisitian values we have instilled in our children. McNick is a "real world experience" catholic school and a hidden gem.

The students must overcome a lack of leadership from the Principal and Business director. Neither will get to know you or your student, they both lack social skills and the students is not a priority. I good dose of teachers that are not McNick alumni would be nice. Great opportunity for the school to move forward, but not with the current lack of leadership. I sent an email, Mid June, to the principal and copied the business director, asking why the 3 openings in the English department. Aug. I still have no received a reply from either"leader."

The leadership across the board is poor.A principal that lacks social skills and vision, makes me wander how she got the job. Declining enrollment, key indicator is they don't get the siblings of alumni. A Business advisor that can't tell you what he's done to help the school in the past 2 years, He can't attend meetings because he busy doing what? McNick cant keep teachers because of a lack of leadership. An AD that just punches the clock, he doesn't leed his department as well. The leadership team doesn't know your child nor your family.

On the whole, the staff lacks competency and integrity. As a parent who chose the school for its "Christian values", I have been very disappointed. Also, leadership is weak. The principal places more emphasis on the quantity of homework (8 hours or more per night is not uncommon for honor students) than she does on the quality of the teaching and the character of her teachers. While a select minority of the teachers are highly qualified and honorable, I believe that most are less qualified than their peers who teach in the neighboring public schools. Overall, huge disappointment for a Catholic school.

It is a subpar school academically, it has about the average ACT of one of the local public schools. I know a few kids that scored very high on the high school placement but after a couple years at this school they fell behind and did not do as well as they should've on the standardized tests. Most kids that go to this school go to college locally, they don't teach them to reach high. My kid went there and it was the biggest mistake we made. There is also bullying, although my child was not I heard many stories. One year they had a problem with some of the athletes assaulting another child and it was on the news. This school is also one where many of teachers play favorites, it is the worst school that we've been to in this regard. Favoritism is very heavy for the teacher's children in everything from school to athletics. There's no working AC so it is often very hot in the beginning of school and the end. I could go on and on but I'll just say it was the worst experience we've had of the high schools our kids went to and I'm just glad we only had one go there but I feel bad for our child because they would've done so much better somewhere else.

I went to McNicholas (class of 1984). I have long lasting friendships form that experience but also see friends with kids now at McNicholas. I see all good kids that are a positive testimony to the school.

3 Out of 4 children attended the school, I wish we had sent the oldest as well. The difference was immense. Teachers were supportive, and my students were MORE than prepared for college. The activities were diverse, so there was something for the non-athlete as well as the athlete. Liked the focus on Christian values and service.

McNick has a rampant bullying problem, lacks diversity, and the students do not receive the academic or emotional support they need unless they have a special relationship with a teacher. This school is no better, or even worse, than the public schools in the area and is definitely not worth the tuition cost.
