We’ve had a fantastic experience at Sacred Heart for our two children. The academics are rigorous, there are so many sports and activities to choose from, and the school community is so warm and welcoming. I wasn’t sure how to feel about single-sex education, but the proof is in our children, who have been growing into confident and capable people at Sacred Heart. This school is really extraordinary.

Run! There are a lot of others options that will not drain your bank account and will result in more well rounded educational experience for your children.. The bullying and lack of basic understanding of child development is off the charts. Administration forcing children to be on medication, lack of clear rules of engagement and less than desirable learning environments makes SHS a low tier school. Couple this with adults who are reliving high school makes this experience all around lack luster.

This is one of the best decisions and investments we have made. Sacred Heart School in Chicago was one of the factors that I took into consideration before moving from Texas. My daughter started in the 4th grade, and after 5 years, I see her perspective of the world around her has changed and the school has been a central element to her growth. The teachers have been very supportive and even in challenging moments, the school has always made it a priority to ensure all the students are seen as human beings first. If you decide to enroll your child in Sacred Heart, be ready to meet some amazing families who will make sure to make you feel welcome into the Sacred Heart family. Diversity is one of the things in which this school exceeds all expectations. The academics are demanding, but the school also provides an ample array of options and tools to make sure no child is left behind.I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants their child to experience a different approach to religious education, in which all voices are listened to and respected.

A school founded by Saints for a focus on Eucharistic Adoration has now strayed into a far left institution that has students present on communist propoganda like Columbus v Natives & land back intiatives a la Hugo Chavez (the Church is against communism). They do not teach Catholic religion daily nor go to Mass, they should lose accrediation due to this. Considering how far they've strayed from the original purpose of the founding Saints yet how great the campus & families are, it has potential, but does NOT have Catholic leadership that shares the ACTUAL values of the Catholic Church to bring it back. They are nonsensical about Corona, hysteria levels at times. It is not like your neutral preschool that respects all & certainly does not give a traditional Catholic education. St. Madeline Sofie, St Phillipine, pray for themthat their hearts may soften by the Sacred Heart of Jesus to return this school to its glory.

Terrible. I would never recommend single gender education. My son having to be ravaged by other boys who are focused on being the alpha male created a lot of unnecessary stress and bullying. It is an aggressive environment for boys. Lunch, recess and bus are largely unsupervised and where a lot of bullying and physical injuries occur. My kids would get made fun of on the bus, their backpacks stolen by peers, to be left crying, then teased for that. It feels like Lord of the Flies, yet Nat Wilburn will not recognize problems and solve them, so it is likely to remain that way.

There is something very special about Sacred Heart. Children are not just taught, they are celebrated, encouraged, respected and challenged to reach their potential. It is a happy, kind environment where being a good community member and giving back are part of the fabric of the school. On top of all of that, the academics are top notch and Sacred Heart graduates attend the best high schools in the city.

Our son is currently a 5th grader at Sacred Heart/Hardey Prep. He has attended since Kindergarten. I have nothing but glowing reviews for the school. It is truly a special place. His teachers have been outstanding, he has made great friends and the number of opportunities for students is amazing.

I invested countless hours of research about Chicago schools, and I looked at both private and public options. Sacred Heart is in a league by itself. I have not found another school in Chicago that comes close to what this school delivers. For our family we care a lot about academics, but we want more than just academic rigor. Sacred Heart has a loving culture that would be hard to replicate. The core values are truly lived by the families, the staff, and the students. The 1:1 attention that each child gets focuses on their overall well-being. The teachers are exceptional. There is even a "principal" for every 3 grades, with one terrific head of schools overseeing it all, all of whom are fantastic. There are lots of brilliant kids at this school, but I love the fact that the parents are not obsessed with comparing which students are more gifted than other gifted students. The result? Spend time observing the 8th graders, who are well-adjusted, smiling, hand-shaking, eye-contact-making, confident young people -- who just happen to have amazing test scores as well. It's very difficult to get into this school, and now I see why.
