My son is in kindergarten and I am truly amazed at how happy he is and how much he has learned. I love how there is a lot of communication between faculty and parents. I also love all of the school activities. I am very happy my son can go to this great school!

The school has excellent leadership and administrative staff and is filled with wonderful teachers. I’d bet this schools ratio of excellent to average teachers would compare favorably against any in the state. We are very happy our kids are at Oriole.

My daughter has been getting bullied by other girls and has an extremely low self esteem. Though Oriole has great statistics we pulled her out and put her in a private school. She is happier has better grades and if is doing way better.

I have two children in Oriole Park Elementary, and we have been amazed by our experience so far (2 years in). The teachers are incredible, and go above and beyond. The school is diverse, and my children are learning about and exposed to differerent cultures every day. The administrative staff is very community oriented, and despite the school being in the city, it has a 'village feel' (staff know the kids and parents by name). Every support that we have needed thus far has been there. All of our extended family goes to suburban schools, and they have been surprised by what CPS offers, including free pre-k for four year olds and foreign language learning starting in pre-K, as well as free school meals with no questions asked. We are very happy so far.

This school is clearly declining academically — just look at the statistics. Although it may have been a fantastic school at one point, it falls under the CPS umbrella: it’s pathetic. Transferring our children to private school is one of the greatest decisions we made as parents. Yes, it starts at home, but the CTU and their progressive antics have decimated students and the respective schools. These teachers don’t care. What a shame.

We have been very happy with the school and the teachers for the 3 years we've been here. I don't see any of the political stuff the other reviews brought up.

I sent my all of kids to Oriole Park School, and we are almost done with the school. I am disturbed by the negative comments and accusations in some of the reviews. The teachers have always taken care of my kids. The administration is always responsive, and the family feeling seems to have gotten lost in the political wrangling at the school. Sure, test scores are important, but this is a school that cares about kids and works with families to make sure that all kids get what they need. I wish the parents and community would stop complaining, stop trying to push their own personal agendas on the school, stop fighting on social media, and do something productive instead of venting here.

My family and I have been a part of the Oriole Park School community for the last 9 years. We moved into the neighborhood, for the school, and we have been very happy. The teachers have been wonderful and the administration goes above and beyond to make themselves available for any help. Like most schools, they do testing, but I have never felt any pressure on the kids. We have had some issues with bullying and it has always been addressed. Should you have any questions, the staff is very approachable and accommodating. The neighbors that we have met, have been nothing but kind. And the friendships that our children have developed, are amazing!

Oriole Park was a great school in a caring and helpful community up until a couple years ago. Education has taken a back seat recently and they seem to be more concerned with pushing a liberal political agenda than educating kids. Test scores have dropped and the schools rating went from 3rd to 18th.

I wish someone would've written a review like this before I sent my kids to Oriole Park Elementary. While the school definitely has some teachers who are talented and caring, the overall school culture and leadership supports white supremacy, emboldens racism, and does not address bullying. School is about much more than learning how to read and write - it is about learning how to cooperate and collaborate with others who may not be just like you, how to solve and address real-world problems, and how to be a caring citizen. I do not feel that Oriole Park prioritizes these characteristics.

Unfortunately, this school has been tainted by CPS’ insane idea of administering too many tests that these poor kids are forced to take, including Kindergarten students! It’s all about tests, tests, and more tests. It appears that CPS forces educators to “prepare” students to take tests more so than actually teaching them.Are the students actually learning anything??

Great school at great neighborhood. Kids love their teachers. Hope the new extension will bring more room for activities.
