My daughter has been going to St Sava Academy for 2 years and is in kindergarten. Her academic progress is incredible. She is 5 years old, reads in 2 languages, and is far beyond her age group in math. The teachers are excellent and very loved by the students. We get a couple updates weekly, and they also have a great parent’s network that keep the percents involved. I Drive 45 minutes each direction daily so that my child can attend this school, Becuase it’s worth it.

"The focus on our Orthodox Faith, family, moral, ethnic and cultural values culminates into an exceptional educational experience for future generations."The mission statement that you just read above is exactly what this school strives to offer. The Academy’s teachers are sincere, caring and professional. As is the case with many, if not most private schools, their salaries are not on par with their public school colleagues. This is something that the school board must address before we lose some of these qualified teachers. We’ve already lost a couple of AMAZING ones in recent years. Curriculum and rigor should be enhanced a bit. That said, I am still satisfied with the current curriculum. A few adjustments would be to the students benefit. The administration is unfortunately short staffed. It could use a dean of students/counselor full time. Expecting the principal to do EVERYTHING is overwhelming, difficult and simply not fair. The school board has managed to recruit new members who are committed to ensuring our children receive a quality education. The Parent Network has an energized group of parents this year who are also committed to resolving issues within their realm, raising funds and helping fill the gaps that the school may have. There is a serious issue with space. The lack of space doesn’t allow the school to grow enrollment at lower grade levels. The school does not have a gymnasium and brick and mortar building for upper grades. This impacts higher grade level enrollment and is disappointing. It seems that the school board has identified this issue and is working diligently to make this come to fruition. “Home made”, hot meals are served for lunch. As is expected from any Serbian/Russian home. The children fast on fast days, during advent and great lent. The menu needs a bit of improvement. Additional nutritious meals should be added to the menu. Parents are always suggesting new items. To my surprise and appreciation, implementation of those suggestions are done in a timely fashion. Friendships fostered at the school remain through life. This includes not only children, but entire families. I’ve seen this with children and families that had their children at the academy nearly 20 years ago. Things are not perfect and there are issues that need to be resolved, however, the ultimate goal of educating & loving our children is on point. To those of you that have ever supported this school…THANK YOU.
