The school refuses to do anything about bullied. A 5th grader threatened to kill my 3rd grader and the school said to prove it even though 4 other kids saw what happened. Assistant principle refuses to do anything when my child gets hurt from other kids and says kids will be kids. Teachers in 2nd,3rd and 4th wont let children use school supplies that we buy for the class as well as limit bathroom breaks to the point that kids have accidents.

My children attended Pre-K, Kinder, 1st & 2nd grade from 2020-2023 and it was a wonderful experience! The teachers communicated well, homework was not excessive and the overall school environment was productive, safe & friendly. I could tell immediately that my children were learning so much by their vocabulary and discussions of different topics. Lots of spirit days and birthday recognition on the announcements. Another plus was the once a month meetings for military children and their recognition during the Month of the Military child. Great supporters for our military children and all children in general! Great school!

The school tried. It just wasn't a good fit for our child's needs. He still talks about his wonderful teacher and what he learned. The principal, assistant principal, and office staff were amazing amd definitely missed after we left. Mr Miller at the front desk just brightens everyone's day. My main issue was with the school social worker on our IEP committee as she completely misquoted us during the IEP meeting and didn't seem to even know the differences between parenting styles we had explained to her. I also didn't like recess being the first thing taken away for consequences but it sounds like that is standard. Overall, a good experience though. I'd give it another chance if it was an option.

This school has been great so far. My son has been going here for 2 years now. We haven’t had any issues and he loves going to school every day which makes me happy. He has learned a lot and giving the right amount of homework to where it has helped him a lot and doesn’t overwhelm him. He sure has grown a lot since attending this school.

I`ve never seen a principal who goes beyond his job like Dr. Brown. My son`s teachers are very compassionate, amazing and just wonderful teachers. I think every teacher are different but for the past 2 years, my son is been lucky to have teachers who really cares for their students.

Do not go to this school. If you can afford it, move to private or move to a different school district

My fifth grader has had a horrible time at DCE. He has reported instances of favoritism. Other students get preferential treatment, especially girls. Do we really need to teach children in elementary school that life isn't fair? He's tried to talk to his teacher about problems with other children and he's ignored. He's tried to talk to the school counselor about the issues with his teacher and nothing is done. When his behavior is the problem, I get a phone call and a conference, but if he's having difficulties with another student and is sent to the principal's office, I am not contacted. I had to hear about it from the other child's mother. The teacher does not respond to emails, even though the office staff urges you to contact the teacher via email. Messages are ignored for days as well. We decided to ignore the low test scores because of the good reviews left by others. Don't make the same mistake. We are moving out of Deep Creek for this very reason. Oh, and my son barely passed his SOLs. The practice packets he was given, had so much information I never saw in his homework. He was clueless, had so much anxiety, and could not sleep.

This is a great school, my three children have been attending since 2004 and the teachers have been so wonderful. I think they know all the students individually. How they do that is amazing. I have no children left there now, but my grandchild is about to enroll. Thank you Deep Creek Staff and Teachers, they need more staff and teachers with compassion and care yet professional and disciplined at other schools.

I love Deep Creek Elementary!! The administration, the staff and the teachers are phenomenal! My son has been there for two years and all of experiences have been A+++. Anytime that we have an issue it is immediately addressed and solutions are put in place. When I walk through the door most everyone knows my name and greets me warmly. We so blessed to have this school help our child reach his full potential. Dr. Jones and her staff of administrators & teachers are a great group of people.!!

DCE is a great school. I've had two children there since 2007. We've found the teachers to be great and the administration responsive to any concerns. They have a rock climbing wall in the gym. Outdoor playground equipment could stand an upgrade though! Lunch is typical of any public school. Music program is fantastic. I've appreciated the way that teachers have gone out of their way to make sure my kids get what they need academically and they willingly alter the curriculum to meet both gifted and special needs. Love DCE....

The administrative team is wonderful. Dr. Brown (AP) appears to know every child and the children love him.

As in any school you will have some teachers you love and some you strongly dislike. But heaven forbid you try to make a complaint about a teacher at this school. You get the runaround until you finally give up or the response the teacher is always right! Rarely can you get an appointment with the principle. When I've talked to other parents with children at other local schools about the programs and events they offer, I find my child's school severely lacking. I also have to agree with the person who posted about the budget cuts here. We don't have a student of the month award ceremony or ice cream social like the other elementary schools in our district have. Your child just gets sent home with a certificate, that a few times were not even signed. I have seen the quality and quantity of food offered in the lunch room go down drastically over the past couple years. Even finding them running out of some food items before all the lunch periods have been served. And my child also has to wear a coat all day in the winter because it was too cold in the classroom.
