We have had the privilege of attending Superior St. Elementary school for many years from my own children to my nieces and nephews who are currently there. Since day 1, my family has felt welcome and happy to be a part of the Superior community. The teachers are wonderful; They are supportive, organized, encouraging, inclusive, engaging, and fun! My children had so many great experiences! They learned a lot and were very prepared for middle school & beyond. The teachers and the principal facilitate an environment which is safe, educational, positive, friendly, and helpful. Principal Ayala has been a Dream. She is a lovely person as well as an incredibly caring and hard working Principal. She provides all the support needed to make sure the students receive everything they need to succeed. I am truly impressed by her and all the amazing things she does for the school! We are so very lucky to be a part of this Superior and all it encompasses.

I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience my children have had at Superior. From day one, we've felt welcomed and supported by an outstanding team of educators and staff who genuinely care about the students' well-being and academic success. The teachers are not only skilled in their craft but also deeply committed to making learning fun and engaging for the children. It's clear that they go above and beyond to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. The level of attention and encouragement my children receive in and out of the classroom has made all the difference in their educational journey. Principal Ayala is always approachable, listening to both students and parents, and making sure that every decision is made with the students' best interests at heart. She fosters a sense of community and ensure that all the staff work together seamlessly to support the kids.

I have one child here in kindergarten and had another child here that graduated last year. My oldest went here from kindergarten until 5th and it was always a great experience. The teachers are staff are very nice and communicative. If I ever had a problem I was always able to speak with someone and get my issue resolved. Mrs. Ayala has been such a blessing to this school. Since she came she has implemented so many new programs for the kids. They offer so many after school programs from painting to soccer, etc. Mrs. Ayala makes school fun but also safe and education is always first. The staff is so friendly and do their best to keep an eye on all the kids. The school goes out of their way to make sure the underprivileged kids have what they need for school. I am so happy my kids have the privilege of coming to this school. I would recommend this school to anyone who asks.

Superior has been a wonderful school for our daughter. She is learning so much and says that she has had the best day, everyday. Ms. Ayala truly cares for the wellbeing of her students and works hard to offer them extracurricular activities during school and after. I am so glad we were able to come to this school!

This school deserves zero stars. Ever since Ms. Williamson retired it has gone down hill with Ayala at the helm. Her only concern is kids in chairs so that she can get financial assistance. They offer no sports. They have been found Not in Compliance for their Special Education program due to their lack of follow through or abiding by the Department of Education response timeline. There is LOTS of bullying going on at the campus with children using the N-word freely and without any punishment. Your child can get bulled and beat up and all they will do is sit the kid out for lunch once. Like I said they are more concerned with money then the students wellbeing. The after care programs offered on campus are a disaster with kids just running amuck and little to no supervision. Ms. Ayala just passes the buck and does not take any responsibility for what is going on in her campus. When my child first started to go to school here it was rated an 8 and now with Ayala running the show it has dropped down to a 6.

We are so happy that we found Superior, the new principal is making such a difference, the education, the teachers, the new programs, arts, sports! Superior elementary is a community! People is nice and they are United to make a better school and they are making it. I saw the score as well after my son was inside of the school but honestly I don’t think it represent what is today the school. Very happy at the school! Thank you

Thankful we chose this school out of the few that accepted application. New principal is engaged, communicates, and has a certain spark and liveliness to her that the kids love. I’m surprised that the school score is lower by at least a couple of points than in 2020. If I had seen that current 6 score I might have skipped it but please consider Superior Elem. the school hits all the marks in our experience. Son started kinder online during pandemic. We actually had a wonderful experience thanks to Mrs. Bedford who is the most amazing, supportive, calm, engaging teacher. We were all crossing fingers that she’d be able to teach the class in 1st as well that’s how incredible she is. Then on to 1st grade on campus. We found that the office staff could be friendlier but principal (now retired) was wonderful, obvious that she cared for the students and school. 2nd grade with Mrs. Lim. Amazing teacher! She supports the students, truly cares, guides them, pushes them to use their skills, helps them where they lack confidence, and is a wonderful communicator. Our child blossomed in her class. On back to school night, we witnessed a parent & a teen who had both been former students of hers run to her for a hug. Truly a treasure for this school. 3rd grade with Mrs. Pak, yet another absolutely great teacher who gives out-of-the-box, interesting, engaging lessons and assignments. I see that she is giving the kids opportunities more independent, learn to manage time, learn to speak in front of class, etc. She cultivates a love for reading in her class. Her math lessons are excellent. And she communicates often. Looking forward to rest of the 3rd grade year and 4th & 5th. School provides opportunities for extra academic support, they build in movement/exercise and music/drama, plus computer class, offer many school events that make the school community closer, overall a wonderful school!

There are fantastic staff at this school. Though many have moved on these past few years. The communication between admin staff and families have progressively declined these past few years. The previous principal would often be too slow to communicate, or failed to communicate completely towards the end of her tenure. The new principal communicates much differently. Under the direction of the new principal, the new office staff utilizes emails, and a self-serve option (check on the school's website) more often than tried and true traditional method of communication of sending paper copies home. On the upside, the campus is relatively small, student to teacher ratio is not too bad, and there's many after school programs available for those in need.

Office staff is incredibly rude, it gives you a window inti the disfunction at this school. The fact that office staff can be disrespectful to another adult I can only imagine how they are treating the students. So sad. Be kind, do better.

We love this school. Mrs Temple is our favorite :) The environment is pleasant and happy. We always had so much fun to do, all teachers and admin and friendly and supportive. Easy to make friends!

We absolutely love Superior. Great school, amazing staff and a wonderful principal. Both of my boys attended this school and it has been a wonderful experience. Children are made to feel welcomed and the academics are great. My older son was well prepared for middle school and my younger one is on his way. Any issues brought to the attention of the principal are immediately and appropriately addressed.

The school is full of hard-working teachers and staff! It's under new leadership this year, and I really like the principal! I wish more people would get involved in the PTA... the school doesn't have as strong of a community feel as it did a few years ago. The PTA tries really hard to support the school, but the number of parents who participate seems lower than in years past. Lastly, the amount of homework that is assigned has got to change!! Some teachers follow the district policy on it and some teachers do not. Some teachers follow the district policy on it and some teachers do not. Those that do not follow it assign a ton of homework! Truly, it is more than kids have in middle school!

I was nervous about starting school here, but now that we've been going for awhile, it's a great school. Yes, it's impacted by budget cuts like all LAUSD schools, but the staff and teachers have all banded together to continue giving a good education to all of the kids. In addition, the teachers are very professional and kindergarten eases you into the school routine, which is very rigorous. The PTA provides music and good after school programs and overall I've been happy with this school.

This school gets amazing test scores but this is mainly due to the parents. The kids at this school get very little individual instruction. Instead, teachers assign hours and hours of homework each night which forces the parents to essentially take over the teaching role. If you child falls behind and you work full-time, good luck getting the teacher or school to take any responsibility. It's automatically your or your child's fault. So if your kid is naturally bright and/or you have time to teach them the curriculum, you are in great shape.

My daughter went to this school for 2 years . Academic is really good however there is so much bullies in the school. My daughter transfered in different school now and her attitude change totally. We need to build the foundation for the first 5 years. Environment has impact with our kids.

Office staff is always rude it seems like you are bothering them. Principal thinks that she is superior than you and doesn't seem to care for students as she claims. As for the teachers and rest of staff they are great. They would do so much better if they didn't have that dark cloud on top of them!

Horrible. Principal is the worst. I have 3 kids. Highly disappointed. Don't let the 10 rating fool you....try a different school....maybe a charter....keep your kids away from this place!

My daughter attended for only 5th. I felt that she didn't get very much individual attention. Her schoolwork was never returned until the end of the year. Teachers never gave much input. Everything had 3's on it, when she's clearly an A student. There was no real explanation of the grading system on board. I was not impressed with the teaching methods at this school.
