The academics, personal attention to your child, and community at Chatham Day School are top-notch. In recent months, when many have felt isolated, the school has created an extremely warm and tight community.

My daughter is about to complete her first year at CDS as a sixth grader. It became apparent to us during her last 2 years in public school that she needed a smaller environment with a progressive curriculum. A friend introduced us to CDS and we couldn't be happier and more grateful to have found this incredible school. The teachers, administrators and staff are top notch and I really cannot say enough about her experience...and ours. It is an unprecedented time in the world right now dealing with Covid-19 and having our daughter being taught virtually. Who knew how this was going to go? It is unchartered territory for everyone, yet I can honestly say that CDS has yet again totally impressed us. They were beyond prepared with their virtual learning classes and the accessibility to the teachers if extra help is needed is always there and appreciated. I want more people to know about CDS yet I still love their "small by design" approach and don't want that to change either! I won't be selfish though and I am always happy to spread the word or talk to anyone considering sending their child to this amazing school! --Signed, an extremely happy parent and huge fan of CDS!

We have had a wonderful experience at CDS. We have two children who could not be more different in their interests and strengths, but the school has managed to serve both equally well. We have one child interested in science and history, another interested in the arts and English, and each has been challenged and encouraged. The school is quite small, so all the teachers know all the students, and the students know each other. It really is a home away from home where my children feel nurtured and valued. Sure, there is room for improvement (it would be nice for enrollment numbers to be a bit higher, for instance), but I believe CDS is a community that knows its strengths and weaknesses, is open to change and excited to grow.

My two daughters went to this school for Middle School (grades 6, 7, and 8), and I cannot say enough for the wonderful experience they had. The teachers cared for them as academic achievers, giving them attention where needed and keeping me informed of their progress. In addition, my girls were cared for as people, nurtured in ways that really allowed them to blossom! As with any school, there were certainly times where things could have been improved. I expect that anywhere I go. With CDS I believe that teachers and administration did listen to concerns and acted when they could and in the best way they could. My girls were given opportunities to lead, serve, learn, perform, be athletic, and prepare for the transition to high school (academically and socially). All I can say is visit the school, talk to the teachers, and ask questions. Find out if Chatham Day School is the right place for your child. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We have been at Chatham Day for four years now and have three children at the school. We are constantly impressed by the amazing curriculum, fantastic teachers, nurturing environment and well rounded education. Our children are thriving both academically and socially. The best decision that we have made as parents.

This school is like a theatrical performance. It doesn't matter how often they rearrange furniture move classrooms around or move inexperienced teachers and assistants around, students need consistency and experience this school has neither. The administration needs a drastic change, they are no longer building a school, they are breaking it.

We have three children at CDS and they all love it and have thrived over each of the last five years. Everyday they are thrilled to go to school, see their classmates and ready to learn - encouraged by their teachers. The amount that they learn is incredible, their writing skills are way beyond grade level, and the individualized pace for math has been sensational. History isn't just memorizing facts but really understanding historical issues from different perspectives. All students there are enrolled in an excellent Spanish program and their understanding of another language is very strong. CDS one of the best student - teacher ratios in northern NJ - which is so critical for their development. Teachers are great. Great gym and nice facilities. 15 acre campus. Administration has done an outstanding job creating at atmosphere of trust, excitement to learn, and personalized and collaborative education. Head of School is an outstanding educator and a true gem. Highly recommend!

We have 3 children at the school aged 11, 9 and 3, having moved to NJ from Switzerland in Aug 2013. The learning environment at CDS is exceptional: small class sizes, fantastically committed & supportive staff, a wonderfully warm and nurturing atmosphere, and a strong sense of community. The kids are being challenged and are blossoming. Nothing but praise for this outstanding school.

Small classes and wonderful staff. Worth every penny for the nurturing but academically challenging learning environment.
