Parents and students are in charge, admin does nothing about student behavior because they are afraid of being sued. Students harass teachers often and nothing is done about it. Do not recommend teaching here.

Excellent school. The teachers and the staff really care about their students.

The school has a very toxic culture among students, and the school is overcrowded. The teachers are average, and tend to give out a large amount of homework. Most just stand up at the board and state the facts that students must learn without thoroughly explaining it. Learning is not engaging and teacher rely too much on Google Documents and Slides. Bullying problems are not dealt with effectively, and minority students experience discrimination. Diversity is not important to this school, and the attitudes of the student body tend to reflect that. Would not recommend if your child is not white, straight, cisgender and upper-middle class.

I have been impressed with Chapin Middle School in there ability to work with each child individually. Although the school is rather large, each teacher has taken an interest in my child and helped her succeed. I have also been impressed with the way that they have found ways to incorporate interesting topics and studies for the kids. They have positive role models and really strive to do the best for each student.
