Some hillbilly kids tattled because they were slightly uncomfortable and inconvenienced learning about racism. Not only are the cowards, their parents are also spineless.

As a caucasian parent, I support Mary Wood and her teachings. Students absolutely should be reading material such as Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “Between the World and Me".

Wonderful school that has far exceeded my expectations moving to Chapin! The kind caring staff go above and beyond what is expected. The amount of school pride is glowing. I would give six stars if I could.

My child has experienced biased consequences and sports are for the elite. It’s not a school to attend if you are culturally different or willing and able to donate donations of money to the school.

Chapin High School has a staff which is excited about and loves teaching (or otherwise providing for the needs of) their students. The atmosphere for learning is great, and students are given respect and expected to respect staff as well as fellow students. The Athletics are impressive, with state champions in multiple sports (such as boys and girls soccer, Cheer leading, etc). The school spirit is prevalent and rightfully so, Chapin High School is truly the best school in the state of South Carolina

Palmettos Finest! Need I say more. We moved to this community purely for CHS 6 yrs ago! For this school to have a rating of 7 out of 10 is a joke. It's a 10 all day long!

I moved here nine years ago and chose Chapin specifically for the schools. (We could have moved anywhere in the state.) While I wasn't thrilled with our experience in the elementary school, the middle school and high school experiences were excellent. Both schools have excellent music programs and promote excellence in education, music and athletics and the staff has been great to work with. As a substitute teacher and parent volunteer I was very pleased with the degree of respect the students showed to me and other parents and staff. I love Chapin and have never regretted our move here.

In my opinion, the previous post dated 4-21-2015 is accurate. Our family has moved 6 times, and have never before experienced this type of "clique-ishness" anywhere else. While other communities were welcoming and extremely hospitable, Chapin is not. We have lived here 5+ years and continue to experience this subtle bias. Thankfully, we have met many wonderful families in Chapin; however, it has occurred to us that 80% of those people are transplants, too. These great people have made living here worthwhile, and exude the true meaning of southern hospitality. Advice: Enroll your kids in as many youth groups, sports, and organizations outside of Chapin school system as possible. It's worth the drive.

The facilities are nice, the faculty are caring and the academics are good. The reason for my 2 stars is that the student body is well known for being unwelcoming to new students. The faculty acknowledge it and anyone from the surrounding communities will say that Chapin is known for being very cliquey. Even Chapin grads will say that new students have a very hard time. I wish that someone had warned me before I moved my family here. If I had known what I now know, I would NEVER have moved my family to Chapin. I hope this helps someone else from making the same mistake and putting their kids through what my kids are going through, my heart brakes for them.

My child went to Chapin High School their freshman year. Let me just say that I will not recommend this school to anyone. My child failed so many tests there because they were constantly pulling my child out of class. When I called the school about this, they said "We just wanted to talk to your child to make sure they were learning." Well my child was learning, until they pulled my child out of class every 5 minutes. If they really wanted my child to learn, they would've kept them in there so that they wouldn't be missing instruction. And another thing, whenever they gave my child a silent lunch, they told my child "You cant eat if we give you silent lunch." And my child was given silent lunches often. You know how long my child went without eating? You know how hard that is for a parent to witness? No, I will not recommend this school to anyone ever.
