Bandy’s has great teachers and is very involved in the community, however I’ve found that as far as student interactions go, there is room for improvement.

We have had such a great experience at Bandys! Our student has always been in the "higher" courses and we found that she has been challenged academically with a lot of options. She found her love in art and music in addition to math and science. It's been a great experience overall!

As a parent that recently moved from CA to NC I have one child currently enrolled at Bandy's. The students receive great support from the community and from the faculty. The principal and both assistant principals are new to Bandy's within the past three years, and it is evident this has really been an amazing addition to the school with a forward thinking administration. The athletics program is huge for this school, and the community support is unparalleled. The athletic program excels in all areas winning conferences and many trips to the state finals. They have an award winning Agriculture department which is providing cutting edge information with Ag Science and real life opportunities for the students interaction and involvement with FFA. What I like best about the school is the fact that as a parent, your voice and concerns, if any are heard and addressed. Although Bandy's is located in a rural area, this school offers exceptional AP and college prep programs and I highly recommend this school.

As a current senior at Bandys, I would say overall it is a good school. There are some pros and cons to the school just as there are of all schools. It's not odd to see people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. There are many quite intelligent teachers and other staff at the school that are willing to help students especially if the students put forth an effort and ask for help. As like many high schools, there are some "dud" teachers and students who just don't try and instead prefer to goof around. Because it's a small school, you learn fast who to associate with and what teachers you hope you don't have. I would suggest becoming a part of a club. I was in the band for the first three years of high school and am now a member of Beta Club. I was also part of Science Olympiads for my first two years. These clubs, for the most part, have intelligent kids and caring teachers who try to put their best foot forward. I personally have a bias against the Athletic Boosters and the teams they support, especially football. The football players tend to see themselves as above the rest and do not like to follow school and teacher rules.

My son's experience at Bandys has been outstanding... He is currently enrolled in many honors and Advanced Placement classes which are rigorous and certainly preparing him for college. Bandys was named an Honor School of Excellence with High Growth in 2010, with over 91% of students scoring at or above grade level on state testing. The teachers are outstanding, and seem to create an interactive learning enviornment. We love Bandys High School and the community.....

My son is a current junior at Bandys High School. His experience has been wonderful, as he is taking some of the most rigorous courses the school has to offer. The honors and Advanced Placement courses are clearly preparing him for college. The school's academic program has improved dramatically over the past 5 years as there seems to be a strong focus on teaching and learning. The teachers are fantastic! My son continually talks about the use of innovative lessons that incorporate technology. In 2010, the school was named an Honor School of Excellence by the state of North Carolina. My understanding is that only 15 high schools in the state acheived this rating. The community support for the school is excellent!!!!

I have three children who have attended Bandys HS in the last 5 yrs. They have all loved it. I feel they are one of the best Catawba County High Schools in the County has to offer, academically. My three younger children will be attending in the next 5 yrs, following in there sister and brother's footsteps. GO TROJANS !!

In response to the review by 'C. Smith', I am a current student at Bandys High School and we have been involved in seminars held annually at our school about driving while intoxicated. Also, we have a designated driver program ran by parents that started after the death of the teenager you spoke of, and it's called Operation Anna Mac. I love Bandys High School, and would never dream of going to another school. This is coming from a class president for three consecutive years, as well as a three-sport athlete and honor student.
