This school is arguable the best elementary school in Catawba County! As a teacher I consider Sherrills Ford part of my home and family.

My daughters started school here last year. Everyday they came home excited to talk about what they’ve learned and eager for the next day. Both were challenged in their own ways and reached their goals with the autos their amazing teachers.

We couldn't be happier at SFES! We have a 5th grader and a Kindergartner and can honestly say that in the 6 years we have been here, we have had only incredibly positive experiences! Here are a few things we love:1. The teachers genuinely love the students. And the students love the teachers!2. The administration is progressive - in the last 2 years, they have implemented it as a STEM-focused school and now have grades 3-6 working daily with Chromebooks as a highly effective educational tool. My kid who hates homework literally cannot wait to come home and do her homework on Google Classroom! Our kindergartner uses robots to learn literacy and digital microscopes to examine owl pellets! In Kindergarten!3. The teachers are awesome at communication! They use programs like Class Dojo, Remind, and email to make sure we know what is going on with our students. 4. I feel very safe leaving my kids at SFES. They have a strict policy that you have to be buzzed in with a camera and intercom system only after they review your driver's license. Once you are in, you have to check in on a computer that scans your driver's license and verifies your date of birth. Also, if you want to volunteer anywhere in the school, you have to be certified and if you want to chaperone, you have to be background checked. It's awesome!5. They believe in the arts! Every week they have Music (with an incredible music teacher who truly inspires our kids!), P.E., Art, Drama, and now Spanish! There are also some extracurricular programs like Robotics which wins awards all over the state! 6. It has a super involved PTO that fosters a true camaraderie between the students, teachers, parents, and community. They only have one big fundraiser and they are very transparent where the money goes and then they don't hassle us all year long for money. There are tons of ways to volunteer including helping with lots of give-back events like a Veteran's Day Breakfast, Food Pantry Drive, Toiletry Drive for members of our community, etc. And there’s so much more! We love it!

This is the most progressive elementary school in the county, by far, you'll find it excels above the area's charter schools in student achievement and progress as well. What's most important is what is driving this achievement. Visionary leaders that not only think big but take action to bring that vision to life in culture and in resources. Sherrills Ford recognizes that children today learn differently, lecture style learning is becoming a thing of the past. Guided learning principals allowing students to learn at their pace have been embraced and a strong push to put all the tools in place to facilitate this change is and has been in motion.Making sure teachers and staff have the resources they need to educate is always a challenge in public education. This school is aggressively reinventing its PTO organization, focusing it's efforts on funding the administrations vision and building awareness about the great things happening at the school in the community. They raised over $100k last year and are targeting to double it this year!Check out the school. See the progressive implementation of technology, robotics and more in core curriculum and how it's driving student engagement. Ask about how the educators there help children learn at their pace, their way. You'll be pleasantly surprised that in fact the public school here is your best choice for your child's education! I did.

My children ages, 9 and 10, transferred to this public school after attending private school since Kindergarten. We have always heard so many great things about the school, and decided to give it a try. We have been pleasantly surprised with both the teachers and the hands on learning experiences. Our girls love the school, and their teachers. After years of private tuition, it was time to see if it was really worth the price. I will say that their public education is comparable to private with the exception of the writing component. This is the biggest area of improvement needed. Overall, I will say we have been happy with our choice, and have really enjoyed saving the extra cash. Good Job SFE!

This is a fanstastic school. My children have been there since Kindergarten. The principal is well respected and a great leader. She was named Catawba County Prinicpal for 2010-2011 school year. The teachers challenge the children to perform at their highest level. There is an emphasis to excel both academically and personally. They set the bar high and expect the kids to be respectful and well behaved. My in-laws have commented several times how well behaved and orderely the children act. We love this school
