So I know a young girl that goes to school here. Not mine particularly but this child I'm close too. I do not care if a child's account is negative balance this school nor any school should be allowed to deny her food. That is exactly what is going on here. I'm going to find out if there is a law against this. No cafeteria lady should tell a child they cannot eat today!! This makes me sick.

I transferred my daughter here after moving to Conover she hated her first day. The students were rude and out of control. Even cussing in class while the teachers sat back and did nothing. The next day they had a break in into the office. I will NOT be making her go back. She is going to the college for her Adult High School Diploma. This school needs an over-haul. Students who WANT to learn need a SAFE environment to LEARN in not a place where things are out of control. Her first day there was awful so bad that during lunch a fight almost broke out in front of her over a boy. Stay Clear Of This School.

This school was rated by US News and World Report as the 13th best high school in North Carolina. The school has outstanding academic programs, athletic programs, and arts programs. This comprehensive high school provides students with a variety of clubs, an outstanding band program, and face-to-face and virtual class offerings.

This school does the bare minimum required by the State...and also labels and holds a grudge against any student that has been in a little trouble....All teens mess up...their brains are not fully developed until the age of 21....yet if there is a fight...no weapons...just a punch or shove...at the age of 16.....they are taken to the police dept. handcuffed, finger printed, and mug shot...In my day....boys would have a scuffle..suspended from school..and friends the next day..NOT a criminal Record!!!.Reprimanded for Badges....that half the time Teachers...ALSO FORGET TO WEAR...are they reprimanded??? and they are the adults and implied roll modes...

my daughter goes to this school and they have substitute teachers teaching classes. There are some classes in this school they have no licensed teachers for so they are being taught nothing in these classes. If a student gets held up in a class completing clean up and gets to the next class later than 30 minutes even with a pass they are counted as absent in the class. How is this fair. If a student has a dr. note it also means nothing. This school has its own rules and have no concern for the good kids that are passing in their classes even if they have no teacher and have to teach themselves. I have raised 5 children we moved a lot and to there fore I have dealt with a lot of different schools and rules and this is the most un organized, kid focused, unfair school I have ever dealt with.

I was nervous about enrolling my child in this school because of the reputation. However, I found the school to be safe and administration takes safety very seriously. Some academic areas are weaker than others, but that is true at any school. I have been very happy with the math department.

I currently attend Newton-Conover high school. I'm in the top of my class and active participant in Track and Cheerleading. This school does have drug problems and thuggish kids, but that's not everyone. We have many extremely smart and talented students here. There are great athletic teams, and there are some wonderful teachers. Every school has its problems, you cant just say this is a bad school because of a few thuggish kids that don't care.

Good athletics, bad place for your kids to go to school. A lot of cover-up going on by administration to make everything look like it's "ok".

I moved to get my kids out of this "Thuggish" school. The staff even even talks about the lack of morales and discipline in the school. The school rivals only Hickory for the title of the most thugged out school. There are some good kids here, but they are the minority. We moved to a county school, and are very happy we did. Drugs are a big problem here. Great athletic facilities though!
