The school is so disorganized and doesn’t have a real vision for anything. Our children got progressively worse and worse because of the very unhelpful teachers who weren’t willing to focus on each student. We had to do some damage control and pulled out our children mid school year.

Excellent school and excellent teachers. I couldn’t be happier with our child’s experience at Sage Canyon.

This is the third elementary school my kids have been to, and I have to say it's the best. The last school was a top 10 rated school, but we found they administration was so set on keeping high ratings that they forgot how have fun. The kids were not happy. My kids are now happy at Sage Canyon, and I have seen that this is causing to them to learn more than ever. Forget about ratings. Know that the teachers at Sage Canyon love the kids, and are creating life-long learners.

I have a child that has bought numerous concerns home in regards to a teacher that has used inappropriate language in the classroom directed at the students. I have emailed the teacher and she immediately responded acknowledging the concern. she said it was forwarded to the principal aND NEVER received a response back!!

I have two children and we have been in three different elementary schools in Douglas County over the years. While one's experience with a school can be impacted by their child's classroom teacher, I caution judgment based on a single teacher. In comparison with other schools, many other teachers at other schools, and with other principals at other schools, Sage Canyon is a good school with good leadership. I have experienced nothing but solid communication with staff and the principal. My special needs son is thriving there, and finally getting his needs met. I have not experienced teachers sitting on lap tops all day and not engaging with their students. I can say from experience that each school has its strengths and weaknesses, and I can also say that Sage has many more strengths than I have experienced elsewhere in Castle Rock.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. There is a complete lack of communication from the classroom to home, and from the school to home in general. I have had to supplement a great deal at home to ensure my child is educated properly because of the poor curriculum at this school. (I see that I am not the only parent having to do this!) Sadly, this school has proven to be a complete disappointment. The leadership and teachers are lacking in ability and skill to effectively educate and provide a learning environment that stimulates educational growth. If I could have pulled my child midyear from this school, I would have. I wish I would have known the poor quality of this school's education and staff before I enrolled.

The issue seemed to be bullying. After spending more time helping out in the classroom, I realized bullying is a symptom of a larger issue. Disengaged teacher(s), district politics, and "independent" learning are the real cause of this school's problems. I thought my child was being bullied, but quickly realized there was little to no positive reinforcement. The teacher spends 75% of the school day on the laptop, while students are told to write about the day, read quietly amongst themselves, etc.. I have been forced to supplement education at home. Which is no problem, as I love to do homework with my LO. However, the school is inconsistent with their work load. Some is in a folder, some you have to proactively search (and I mean SEARCH) for online and some is emailed. There is no classroom or communication consistency. -5 stars

My child was not challenged, discipline problems were evident in the classroom and within the school, there wasn't much follow-through with regards to academics and/or social issues. I would NOT recommend this school at all.

I pulled my daughter out of the local charter school and put her at Sage Canyon. She was doing well at the charter but has blossomed at Sage. Her learning has gone thru the roof! She loves her class, teacher and going to school. I love the principal - she's a woman of integrity and humility and loves the kids and parents. She is not focused on mandatory testing and the standardized tests so you don't have to worry about teachers teaching to the test. I cant say enough about this school.

We have been here over a month but we are really very happy here! The staff and even the other parents have been very friendly and welcoming, and the teachers in particular are so warm and caring toward the kids. I don't love company that they selected to run the after-school program so we may switch out if they don't get a bit better organized and engaged. My kids are absolutely thriving here! I really like the methods of communication (ie, apps and software. I can look online to see what kind of day my children are having), and the way that they challenge the kids to be engaged and learn about the class subjects.

This school is amazing. I had kids in other schools and there is no comparison. Teachers and district employees try tp place their kids here.

I could not be happier with our experience at Sage Canyon. My kids, 1st, 3rd, and 5th are happy, learning so much and love school. I read the post below and am surprised that someone mentions extremely poor leadership but excellent teachers and staff. I have found all of the adults, from leadership to office staff to teachers and aides to be kind and receptive. The principal puts out blog posts to parents and she and the assistant principal greet students in the lobby and wave goodbye to students at dismissal everyday. This is an excellent school.

I can't express how happy I am with Sage Canyon and how well my son has done there. I am a young parent, who had a bad experience in school and I am skeptical about our public schools system. Honestly, my opinion has changed since my son has been at Sage Canyon. He is excited almost every day to go to school. He talks about what he does in class and he has a lot of friends. I think this is because the teachers and administration builds such a nice environment for kids. My sons teacher is responsive and explains any problems that my son has. My son was having trouble with his reading and his teacher has worked really hard to help him improve. I have only met the principal and assistant principal a few times, but I think they are great too and they know my son by name. I am really happy that my son goes here and I would recommend it to anyone.

We love Sage Canyon! We are moving out of state and are so nervous about finding a new school that will compare to Sage Canyon. While the first year was somewhat unorganized, it was the first year of a new school, so that's to be expected. I was part of the PTO and loved working with the staff and the parents! We will miss the Sage Canyon family!!

First to the person who went to 2 PTO meetings and did not have a good experience... I am very sorry that you felt that way. I am on the board and this was my first year being on a board of a PTO and we are new getting to know each other. We had lots of challanges this year and hope going forward we are growing and learning. I hope you will give us another chance and get involoved we always need help from parents. Sage Canyon met all of my expectations! My daughter had a great year and loved Miss Pepper... We look forward to another great year . Being a new school is tough and I thought everyone did a fantastic job... llooking forward to another great year this year.

I think the school is just fine. I have no issues with PTO, Principles, Teachers. I have had nothing but good experience with all. My daughter is doing well in class and she has an amazing teacher. You should have seen the school I went to at this age. My kids are very lucky to be going here.

We are very happy here! We came fro Timber trail and were worried about this new school measuring up since we liked timber trail. We like Sage Canyon even more and feel like the kids are getting a more balanced education.
