Outstanding experiences for students at STEAMM Academy @ Hartford!

Hartford, now known as STEAMM Academy @ Hartford Middle School, has increased it's enrollment over the past 6 years from a paltry 125 students to 450 and growing! They are the only STEAM school in Stark County, the FIRST STEM/STEAM school in Stark County, and until a week ago, were the ONLY STEM school in Stark County (Congrats to East Canton High for joining us!) Their teachers are fiercely passionate about their students, and strive daily to provide rigorous, relevant lessons that engage students to find their genius. Students here have far more opportunities to explore various STEM career pathways than anywhere else in the county. Recently, ODE designated them an INDEPENDENT SCHOOL no longer in Academic Distress. The students here have engineering as a core class, and have opportunities such as Electric Vehicle and Soapbox Derby. They also work diligently to promote girls in STEM, with CS Code Girls being one prime example. They have a stellar art program, with many art students showcasing and selling their art at local downtown venues. The teachers here LOVE the children, and it shows!

hartford is beyond amazing i love this school with all my heart it is a wonderful place to learn they teach us stuff we need to learn through out live and the staff there is amazing they make sure people rare doing the right thing at the right time the lunch ladies give amazing lunches and i love being a student here i could image going any where else .. ... - Shyann Mcleod

I have been a teacher at Hartford Middle School for four years. I have the priviledge of working with the best students in the world. They are hard workers and a pleasure to educate. I feel extremely bad regarding the false words that are spoken about my students school, parents, and community. The students are the same as all students in every school, every school has a range of students from challenging to stars. The parents and community collaborate and work hard for the sake of the students. The teachers are committed, are more than excellent, and are blessed to have a visionary who is a wise team player as a principal. If you are unsure of the strong leadership and teaching that goes on at Hartford, check out the state report card. There lies the truth. Hartford is a project based interdisciplinary learning environment. We should be rated more than a 3 out of 10. You are invited to come to Hartford and see a place where leaders of the 21st century are being developed. Thanks for sharing.

Hartford Middle School recently received an Effective Rating from the state of Ohio based on their students' test scores. Staff and students at Hartford are to be congratulated for their hard work and effort to show such gains in just one year. Way to go Hornets!
