Canton Montessori is an amazing school, with excellent leadership and a fantastic collection of teachers and staff. Our youngest started there mid-year, after having a rough time at another school. Not only did his issues at school disappear in the first couple of days, but he LOVES CMS. How many 4 or 5 year olds do you know that literally run into school every morning? He is one of them, although we do less running now, because the school has helped build his confidence and sense of personal responsibility to the degree that we now "car-line" most mornings.CMS isn't afraid to give the students as much information as the student feels like they can handle. A couple of weeks after starting at CMS, our youngest broke into an explanation of the political conflict that led to the pilgrims leaving England, of the dangers of the voyage on the Mayflower and the challenges they faced when they got to North America (including a sidebar to explain some of the difficulties native Americans faced with their new neighbors). Another dinner conversation was about the decomposition (his word) of leaves in the fall, and what effect that has on the larger ecosystem. This is nearly every day; but he never complains about being forced to learn, instead each subject is brought up brimming with curiosity. And the teachers... we love them. We had our first "parent-teacher" conference, and our son's teacher not only explained in general terms where he was academically, but actually had copied notes and progress reports for each area of study and spoke fluently about his specific challenges and achievements (down to letters he needed practice on, and examples of his improved writing).

In the few months since we have started our son at Canton Montessori we have already seen HUGE progress. He loves it so much that he asks us on weekends when he gets to go to school! The staff and principal are great. We will definitely recommend to our friends!

Canton Montessori School respects each child as an individual and at the same time fosters a close community environment. True to Montessori ideology, the staff facilitates development of the whole child not only academics. Children are encouraged to be self sufficient (which develops their intrinsic motivation) but are also nurtured. I have two children in the school and both are thriving.

My son has been at Canton Montessori School for five years. He loves it there and we have loved everyone of his teachers. They truly care about him and our family. The one-on-one attention and the outstanding Montessori program has helped him to thrive academically.

Would never send my child here. The leadership is poor and my child was told he was "bad". He was forced to be potty trained before he was ready. We ended up removing him, after 5-6 months of problems. From the first day at his new school we have had NO problems. Our story is very sad. Something at this school needs to be changed. I have now heard there are others with stories similiar to ours. So happy we got him out of there!

A wonderful learning environment that individualizes instruction for every student. Advanced, on-level, or needing intervention-all can be served in the same Montessori classroom. The multi age learning experiience builds personal accountiability and teamwork.
