My children really like/liked cherokee high school. It’s the teachers there that make the difference. It’s diverse and more like the real world. It is next to a water treatment plant so it can get smelly there. To address the overcrowding they expanded the high school into an elementary building that was next door. So the kids do have to walk a good distance between buildings but it was a good, immediate solution to the overcrowding. There are nearly 900 Freshman this year so if it’s a small school your looking for, this isn’t it.

This school is the worst school I have ever seen or gone too. The amount of work does not let me spend time with my friends or family outside of school. The school is right by a waste plant which makes it smell worse than any other part of Canton, and everyone here is never open to newcomers. I have been disrespected more times than I can count by teachers and students for not being Christian, a teacher even went as far as telling me that Christianity was the right thing to believe and I was a bad person for not believing it. A teacher also threw things at students when mad, and threatened to slam a kids fingers in a door. The walkout honoring the 17 children that died in the Florida school shooting was not participated in by Cherokee high school, as the principle told us not to make it political. This action of theirs took away our right to express our opinions and beliefs, unless of they agreed with the administration here. It also disrespected and Dishonored the innocent children killed in that shooting too. The administration is heartless and they only accept ideas that agree with theirs. This school is impressively horrible, do NOT send your children here, as it has only caused me depression. It has wasted my childhood and has wasted what most call the best years of your life. Once again, do not send your children to this awful school.

This school has no respect for it's students and in return the students dont respect the teachers. The whole "Treat someone as you want to be treated" is something that is said, but not enforced.

this is a great school I am an ex-teacher and school administrator I'm a very involved grandparent with a long background with child development and education my grandson is thriving there some academic scores are lower because it draws from a disadvantaged area in downtown canton it also draws from some of the largest home subdivision which is the ideal for preparing children for their life I have psychotherapy with children for the past 20 years I am so glad he is in this school

My daughter graduated from CHS in 2015 and it was an awesome place! Our previous experiences in Florida left a lot to be desired, but at Cherokee everyone is so friendly. The facility is kind of old, but the kids and staff are superior in every way to other schools I have visited. It is a great place to send your kids!

Rigorous academics, supportive and warm atmosphere. They really care about the individual success of each student and giving each child what he needs. My son had some bullying issues at his old school, and moving him to Cherokee was like a dream come true. He has done so much better since starting Cherokee two years ago.

Cherokee high school is the best. We offer more career tech classes than the other school do. Our principal is #1 in state for best principal!!

Moved to Canton in November 2013 from Illinois with my husband and 16 yr old daughter who was very well liked (not popular but well liked and active in activities) in previous school. Should have known from the begining that there would be trouble with Cherokee h.s. The counselor assigned was terrible and did the minimum required of her job. Was given misleading information and was pretty much set out on my own to find out how the school system here in Georgia works. Principal not much better. Sewer treatment plant is located in back of the school and some classes are in trailers. Students not very welcoming to outsiders, not only if you come from a different state but from if you are from another county. If you did not grow up here be forwarned. I do not blame the kids, but rather the parents. From where we came from kids were not perfect, but atleast accepted others in one group or another--there was a place for everyone. Southern hospitality is dead in this town, although they like to preach the bible--do not live by it . If I had the choice again I would have made sure its assigned H.S. was Sequoyah . Thank goodness this is my daughters last year in H.S.

There is no interest in the student here- education materials are out dated, they are way behind the other schools in the area and there is no concern for the students. Teachers are fair to average. there is no sense of urgency and many lack critical thinking skills. Most of the staff procrastinates instead of being proactive. This school needs a complete overhaul- new admin staff, teachers. If I could do it again, my child would have never attended here.

I'm a senior at Cherokee this upcoming year. These past 3 years have been the best times of my life. The school is great in many aspects including the administration, teacher and the overall atmosphere at the school. On the other hand there are some bad teacher (every school has a few) also the poop plant behind the school makes it smell bad, but you get use to it. I have enjoyed my time here so far and I hope to enjoy my final year as a Warrior

Principal and teachers are involved and help students to achieve. Had two graduate from Cherokee and were accepted in their first choice for college.

Cherokee high school has got to be the worst school in cherokee county. Everything is unorganized, the school is filthy, the counselors are hard to get a hold of, the teachers are rude and personally I think cherokee has the highest number of students the commit suicide due to bullying. This is a terrible school.

The school is horribly dirty. The custodians don't wash the windows, the floors are dirty, the school smells, the lining on the stairs is crooked, the awards and frames on the walls are crooked. Most of the teachers are disrespectful to even the well behaved students, the principals belittle you. The school doesn't enforce dress code, there are literally girls going to school with dresses so short their rear-ends hang out. The test grades are decent and there are really good teachers there who do their jobs and honestly care about the students, but they are few and far between. I wouldn't recommend this school.

I am a freshman here at CHS, When I first came here, I knew i wont like it, they say they try to make everything conformable, my mom called up there and said that I want to be transferred, the principal told her just give it time, well I did and I STILL HATE THIS SCHOOL, i already knew I will hate it, and this school doesnt deserve to be the 'best' high school. couple years ago my friend's bro attended here, he got held back cuz they couldnt find his info. I seriously, dont think this is a good/best school. Go to Sequoya than here. and I am asking to get transferred, they say this is a huge mistake. its not
