Not a friendly staff. Poor communication from teachers and staff. My daughter was in another school we had to transfer to Candler because we moved. The school she was previously in was very supportive of her needs, this school is the opposite. I wished I had reviewed the school before transferring her...I would not recommend Candler.

Wonderful, community oriented school! My daughter recently moved to Candler from another Enka district elementary school and she has just blossomed! Her teacher has taken the time to build a positive, personal relationship with her and all the family events and activities have made our entire family feel like a part of the school! And an added bonus, her test scores have greatly improved! We love this school and are so glad she is now a Candler Bobcat!!

Excellent place for my daughter to learn and grow. I would highly recommend.

We have had a great experience at Candler Elementary School. Love the "small" community feel in this school. Both of my kids have done great at Candler!

When it came time to decide where to enroll my child in school, I chose Candler because another "top rated" elementary school that my older son attended failed him by passing him through and not catching his learning disability. So far my daughter has improved tremendously in only 2 months. Everyone we have encountered is wonderful and more than willing to help and be an active part in my child's education. I am definitely glad that we chose Candler.

My child has fallen behind. She was at grade level when we enrolled. She has been bullied. They came home with blood from being scratched. Principal don't care. I am going charter or homeschool. I give up on this school. I have no other choice.

I don't even know... Why are you defending the BULLIES? Though this is written in the summer... Likes what he likes! At least punish them! Zero tolerance should be a rule here immediately!

1st Grayson I want you to know I support you. My children ,including my son, like MLP. It's a hilarious and well written show that expresses good morals!! 2nd I am sorry that you were made to feel worse by those whose job it is to protect you. Shame on them!!!!!!

Let Grayson Bruce bring his My Little Pony backpack back to school immediately. The principal should require each teacher to explain to their students that ganging up on anyone for how they look or what they wear is unacceptable. Teach the students to be tolerant of others. You owe this to EVERY person in our community. The parents and teachers should immediately ask for the resignation of PTA president Allison Frady. What she said in the Asheville C-T missed the point. David Thompson said, "bullying (is) an imbalance of power." This was a clear case of bullying and the school administrators are protecting the bullies!

Teaching hate and ignorance is a dangerous method for a positive future. I am ashamed to call this part of my country.

"Get bullied? You're the one who should change!" seems to be the prevalent philosophy at this school.

If would give a negative rating if I could. I looks like from past comments this school has no intention of being a safe, bully-free school. Shame on all of you for failing to do your job. Kids will pick on other kids for just about anything. If someone was picked on because other kids thought her nose was too big, would you insist she get a nose job before coming back to school? Way to support the bullies and not do your job as teachers.

The recent events with My Little Pony incident are a disgrace and proves the administration here does not care about the students. There needs to be a change to ensure the safety of our children and reassure us parents that our children are actually be cared for and looked after. I'm ready to remove my kids from Chandler - we're just waiting for the transfer paper work on their next school.

Totally unacceptable approach to bullying. School should be a safe environment for EVERY child. Don't blame the victim - address the bullies.

They need a better Principle! He acts like he isn't concerned about our concerns. Almost like we are annoying him when we address our concerns. The office staff is very rude.

I love Candler Elementary School! I went there as a child and my daughters go there now! The teachers all have their own way of teaching and they are all wonderful. I do agree that the office people are snobby and very unwelcoming. The principal (as of 4/2013) is a great man who cares about each student. He was my principal in high-school at Enka High and I loved him then as well. My daughters love their school and their teachers. I wouldn't change their school for anything! We are EXTREMELY happy at Candler Elementary School.

I think most of the teachers at Candler are fine, but the office staff leaves a lot to be desired. They are very unwelcoming. They tend to have a sneering attitude towards people and can get downright rude when a parent asks a legitimate question. Pay attention BCS! The office staff are generally the first contact parents have with the school and they reflect greatly on how the school is perceived.

The principal was unconcerned that the bus stop was on a dangerous curve and wouldn't accept my childs prescribed inhaler, my wife to raise sand because the school records were not transfered and our child was sick and needed her inhaler, they acted like they were not concerned. It definitely lowers property value for people who may think of moving to this area.
