I rate this school a 1. If you have a child who requires special education services especially in the middle school age group, I would reconsider this school as a choice.

Great school. Went here myself, and have many family members who currently attend. Teachers go over and above their duties.

It is a Great School ... Something to reflect on that most parents who complain refuse to want to hear ... It is an indisputable fact that if children showed up on day one of first grade smarter, better behaved, and with stable mental health, schools would function better. It would be better for these kids, the other kids in their classroom, and the teachers. Lifetime success is greatly influenced by the first five years of life. Schools can help children improve themselves, but schools cannot be expected to save children who have poor home lives or lack adequate mental health services. To improve our student's experience at Raymond, we need to fix the general social climate. We must not exclusively focus on what happens in schools, but what happens before and outside of school. We must acknowledge that much of the education problem comes from bigger social problems such as poor parenting, and limited, misguided, or recklessly ignored social services. We won’t solve the education problem till we solve the “Day One Problem” and acknowledge the simple fact: on day one of first grade, we need better kids, not just better teachers. So why don’t we recognize the Day One Problem? No matter the issue, people have a tendency to ignore contextual factors and blame focial visible factors. This tendency manifests itself in education when people ignore how important parenting, mental health, and early childhood are to educational success and instead focus on teachers and curriculum. Not only do some parents misguidedly blame schools, some parents may actively want to blame schools. You’ve probably met one of these parents. Blaming schools allows these parents to hide from the reality that A) they are not the best parents or B) something is wrong with their child. That’s why I say “we need better kids.” It is a direct attempt to break the norm. Children are obviously not to blame. Society, laws, some parents, and a host of other large contextual factors are to blame. We must step up and break political correctness and say that on Day 1, the kids need to be better. They need to be smarter, healthier, and better behaved. In the end, schools cannot save children. Children must be up to an adequate level on Day One. It’s up to parents and us as a society to make children better prepared for Day One.

Smaller isn't always better. Special education department is inconsistent and lacking. Most teachers do not do anything extraordinary or unique in fact some of the methods used are very old school...ex. popcorn reading. Teaching methods from teacher to teacher are inconsistent..for example all have smart boards but some teachers refuse to use them. New Principal is difficult to get in touch with and seldom returns calls. He seems to be concerned with making changes that affect the image of the school and increasing his portfolio rather than the best interests of the students and focusing on student achievement as a whole.

Raymond School still has decent class sizes. My children receive a wonderful, hands on, and relevant education. I love how the teachers invite us in to help with special projects and special days. The teachers communicate with parents frequently and keep us informed about what the kids are learning. I really feel that Raymond is doing an outstanding job! My children are in the elementary grades and one in the middle school school grade. I am very happy with Raymond school and the teachers. I can't rate the principal very high, as I don't hear much about him. He will often send home lengthy notes. I think he tries to keep parents informed with changes about the new mandatory Common Core standards and curriculum, but that's about it. PS The children have water at school. PSS. I think there may be some confusion about the trailers that one post mentioned. You may want to contact the school about the cost and reason for the trailers.

Just another common core school. Nothing special here folks. Education is subpar. One thing I really don't get is why they need a principal and an administrator for a school of this size. Also, they stuck the taxpayers with a million dollars worth of tacky trailers so that they could cram more out of district kids into what was once the library. Last I heard from a board member there were over 100 out of district kids...oh, and the water at this school is undrinkable. It's sad because it used to be a really decent school.
