The school has made changes like IB to improve. The Principal is really involved and I can tell she is trying to improve the learning. The teachers have been there for lots of years. The Principal sends home tons of info for parents and tries to get parents involved but most parents don’t show up so I’m not sure if they know what Pendleton is really about. This year the Principal has had monthly meetings with parents and only a few of us go but we learn a lot and get to ask questions. The school just got IB authorized and that will help improve teaching and the test scores. My child had an issue with a classmate and I contacted the principal. She listened to my concern and addressed it. I know that she can’t tell me what the other students consequences were because of the law doesn’t allow that but I felt sure that it was addressed. I know that if anything were to happen again that I can get her support. Things happen and kids will be kids but it feels good to know that she will make sure the kids are safe.

My daughters experience with this school did not go well. She came home crying because she got in trouble for something she didn’t even do. I’ve had a horrible experience with the teachers in these past 2 years. And all of the kids there have such rude remarks to say, I think that this is completely unacceptable considering this is a school. I feel that the other parents don’t know the full truth of what goes on at school or it’s just that they don’t want to give the school a bad review. But overall Pendleton was a horrible experience for me and my daughter and we are looking into some other schools because this is just unacceptable.

I do like the school education system and its strive for exellence. My concern is of my child safety and the rudeness of some of their faculty members. Besides the bruises on his legs he receives on school property that the school never lets me know. Its whats he's learning on school grounds that worries me. While waiting for the school to open i was playing with my 6 year old and my son got on my back and screamed at his friends "Look guys! Just like a Mexican"(he's mentally slow). With a broken heart i sat him down and i corrected him. My son is half white, half mexican and to hear words like that coming from a place of education. Where exactly are the faculty members when our kids are getting bullied, when they hurt themselves and when they ask for help.

I have an autistic first grader and a typical kindergartner who attend Pendleton. They both love school and we've had nothing but positive experiences. The teachers and aides are wonderful.

We have been a Pendleton family for a few years and love it so don't pay much attention to the score listed here. The score is not a reflection of the school whatsoever. The Principal that started last year has really done a lot for the academic improvement of the school. I attend the parent meetings and the school's test scores have improved so much since she became the Principal. They also became an IB candidate school under her leadership. I really love the weekly newsletters and parent website that she has because it helps us know what's going on at the school. The newsletter even introduces you to all of the staff over time which helps new parents get to know who the staff are. I hope that this site fixes the score based on the most recent test scores because the score here is not based on what's going on now at Pendleton.

We have had a fantastic experience at Pendleton. The current Principal cares about all students and addresses matters quickly and fairly. All of the teachers that my children have had are good teachers that care about the students. It's really unfortunate that the score on this website is based on outdated data because I think that today's data would show a much different score. While it's clear that they want the students to excel academically, they also care about their well-being. They send home parent information about social emotional learning and how we can help our children at home. They are now an IB candidate school and you can see evidence of all of the changes that have been made to earn IB approval. We have a few more years left at Pendleton and we hope that the Principal and teachers stick around long enough for all of my kids to have the benefit of their leadership and their teaching.

We had to move to Pendleton because the class my child is in was moved there. We weren’t sure how we would feel about the move, but the teachers moved there too. They really care about their students and the Principal knows a lot about Special Education. We hope they don’t move the SDC classes again because we are happy at Pendleton.

We have been very pleased with our Children’s experience at Pendleton Elementary. We are impressed with how much communication the school provides to the parents, how much parent involvement is welcomed and celebrated, the caliber of teaching our children are receiving, and the level of education they are encouraged in. She has been reading since the TK Level, and I truly believe that is because from the start, their teachers have encouraged them in reading, as well as challenged them. The environment is wonderful and welcoming, and the principal, is very hands on and involved with what is happening at the school.

My wife and I debated a lot as to where we should enroll our daughter for school and we ended up selecting Pendleton. Selecting Pendleton thus far has been the best thing we could of done for our daughter. As a proud parent I'm enjoying seeing my daughter thrive in Mrs. Woods/ Mrs. Felix classroom everyday, because they are an awesome teacher/ assistant combination for our TK students. I also believe Pendleton has the right leadership in place to take this school from being GOOD to being GREAT. To insure Pendleton becomes GREAT, we as parents need to model the PAWS and take the time to be more proactive with what's going on at Pendleton.

To be honest, this school might not be my first choice among other schools in the area, but in the past few years I have seen the many improvements of Pendleton School, from repairing the classrooms which looks very nice and appealing for the students, on how the faculty and staff strive in helping students struggling in academics, to handling students behavioral issue in an appropriate manner. With the new Principal this year, I would say that this school has still so much to be proud of! All the best!

I have had a wonderful experience with the school since my daughter has started TK. Mrs wood is a great teacher and my daughter is learning so quickly and making friends. All of the staff have been so friendly and welcoming to us. I would recommend this school to anyone who is new to Buena Park District.

This is a fabulous school. The teachers are very educated and treat patents wonderful. I went to this school, as did my 19 year old, and now my 8 year old. I know the teachers personally because I went to school and grew up with several teachers and staff members. Any concerns you may have are appropriately addressed in a timely mannrer. I would recommend this school to friends and family?
