Former student here: Great times and great academics. Actually enjoyed highschool.

This school far exceeds our expectations. The principal, teachers, and staff have all been quick with correspondence and pleasant. There are so many clubs available making it easy for kids to find their niche and their people. Lots of assistance for kids struggling and rigorous challenging AP classes for the excelling students. It's always clean and a welcoming place.

I went to Legacy High School and I can say that for the most part, this school is OK. There were good days and bad days but a few things were very apparent: 1. Upper administration could care less about students and instead care about appearing as though they care2. If you have a complaint about teaching staff, nothing gets done even if several people report the same issue and parents get involved. It falls on deaf ears and you are brushed aside. The teacher always wins and will continue to teach poorly and not care about students learning without as much as a warning or slap on the wrist.3. Legacy staff will push you to take advanced courses when you aren't ready. I barely passed my prerequisite but the counselors, teachers and upper admin insisted I move to AP as "that is the only option". Many of my peers took several AP classes only to fail their AP exams and be stressed for most of the year. The staff use AP classes as an excuse to not teach, counsel, or give additional assistance and use the excuse "you won't get this treatment in college" when you do in fact get individual attention in college. None of my AP classes prepared me for anything and instead damaged my relationship with my teachers and peers and ultimately lead to this review and a 2 star rating. 4. Counselors make situations worse. So many of my friends and peers experienced bullying or cyberbullying and when approached, students would ask for anonymous confrontation but they ALWAYS named names. This would only make things worse and I always felt bad for those kids...That being said, I had a handful of teachers who cared and were great influences in my life. Those select few are how I survived high school and went on to be successful in college.

This school is made up of administration that still thinks they are in High School and who is in the popular crowd. If you aren’t in band or a sport you better not have any problems with teachers, classes or other kids or the administration will brush it off and do nothing about it. They don’t care about facts or the truth once they have made up their opinion about you. This goes for everyone from the principal to the administration down the the teachers. This school did worse for my kid then any good. Would not recommend this school to anyone.

Every teacher, counselor, and administrator I've come in contact with has been great. They truly care about the well-being of the students and it's evident with the way they encourage and assist kids.

I think that this school has a lot going for it with dedicated teachers, good communication with parents, reasonable homework load, and a good offering of activities. My only criticism is that the school starts too early. Extensive research has shown that teens naturally tend to fall asleep later at night and then sleep later in the morning needing around 8 hours of sleep a night. My freshman student has been sleep deprived and exhausted this whole school year with waking up at 5:30 am to get ready and then be at the school by 7 am. Just as the research indicates, she often doesn't fall asleep until 11:30 pm giving her only 6 hours of sleep a night during the week. She is VERY VERY tired most of the time now. On the one hand the school pays lip service to promoting student well being, yet they enforce a schedule that results in serious sleep deprivation and exhaustion putting students at much greater risk for compromised physical and emotional well being by ignoring the medical research on how much sleep teens should be getting. I feel very sorry for students who get home late from activities, then have a few hours of homework late at night, and then must be back at the school by 7 am to do it all over again week after week. No wonder why so many students struggle with depression and anxiety when the school schedule deprives them of getting adequate sleep to handle all of the daily stress and exhaustion of high school!

I have had an amazing experience as a parent for two of my children. They are both involved in the band/marching band program, and both of them, very different, have learned so much about team work, community, and being in a challenging program. Both my kids are very different academically and they have both had some pretty amazing teachers who have guided them in different ways. The new principle is great, and we have had amazing luck with our councilor as well ( who has taken time out of his crazy schedule to work with my son one on one about simple tasks like organization to help him succeed in classes.) I really couldn't ask for a better school for my children.

I currently have a freshman and a sophomore at this school. The math department is questionable. My child is struggling in math (he's been an above average math student up until this semester). We're spending hundreds with a tutor to help him in math. Another math teacher at LHS who will help him during lunch has given him ideas to get out of her class as even this other teacher is struggling with what she's teaching kids. If your child is an athlete, look to BHS, they have awesome community support for all sporting events. I don't know anything about theater or choir - it's never promoted. Promotion of school events at LHS is non-existent. There's not a lot of energy devoted to school activities, lots of apathy at this school amongst students and administration. I subscribe to the daily bulletin everyday and it rarely mentions any athletic events, plays or musicals. It's basically the lunch menu for the day. No school spirit. The website is dull and lacking warmth. It's hard to navigate. Sadly, it might represent the current environment and administration. I have worked in the St. Vrain district and all of their school websites are inviting, encouraging, bright, and welcoming. They actually encourage the community to get involved with the school. They have pictures of the administrators on their front page with clear contact info, encouraging parents to reach out. Legacy is not this friendly or inviting, again, this might come from the top down. St. Vrain keeps their social media updated and chock full of information and on their front page of their website! They promote ALL student events at their schools and actually attend them! You'll find admin and teachers at most St. Vrain events (sports, plays, music shows) They are incredibly engaged with their student body. Fascinating! When walking into LHS, I feel unwelcome and like I'm intruding. We are looking at other options for our two kids (St. Vrain District). The rest of the subjects at LHS seem fine, probably equivalent to any school in the area. Our kids want to feel like a part of a bigger community and feel the excitement when getting involved with school events - its just not what LHS can offer. In my child's student leadership group, there's 8 kids. The school has 2300 kids people - seriously?

This school has not provided me with anything good, when I walk down the halls I hear people using profound language (I will say this is unfortunately common in schools) they have done absolutely nothing to stop or limit the use of this language and I have even overheard teachers using this language. I recently have had two incidents that have infuriated me with this school. The first instance was when I was riding my bike and a "security guard" drove over to me on a golf cart and told me to get off the school property or get off my bike, I was leaving the school property when I turned around to make a joke to my friend when she came flying over to us almost hitting me with her golf cart then took my id and gave me a referral, my friend attempted to ask why she was giving me a referral when she swung around and confronted him in a hostile tone. The second experience was when I brought my ham radio to school for the tenth time or so, (this was the first time that I had a problem with staff over the radio) the same security guard walked over and pulled me away from my friends, after telling many faculty what a ham radio was and why I had it they still brought me to the office and confiscated the radio. I later went back and asked in a polite tone what rule I had broken, the principal classified it as a phone then told me it should not be inside the building, I told her that I was outside and then brought inside, she then began to talk about how it could cause them to have interference on their radio (it can't and won't) I asked if they had any recent interference with their radios and she simply turned around and acted hostile to me, she then told me in a tone that felt almost threating that she had made her decision and told me to get out of her office. Parents may say that this is a good school however they treat parents differently because they don't believe that students will do anything to rebel. I hope messages like this show that we will not go easy. I do not recommend or feel that I or my property is safe in or around this school.

I'm very surprised with the past reviews for this school. I am currently a Freshmen to be graduating in 2018. Legacy has been a great school so far with excellent academics and sport programs. I recently read a review talking about the "below average grading scale at Legacy in 2014". Well i just want people to know that this is an Adams 12 grading scale and is not a decision left up to Legacy it self. I personally have had no problems at legacy or with the Adams 12 district in general. I have also never heard of any problems from my peers that are currently in their sophomore and junior years. The teaching is great, teachers really try to make sure their students understand the subject before moving on, and even take time out of their off periods to help students. I give Legacy the highest rating and i would suggest this school to any student considering attending at Legacy High School.

Contrary to my pessimistic peers who are finding every fault and blowing circumstances out of proportion, I believe that Legacy promotes a healthy learning environment with little to none of the drama expressed by some others. That being said, Legacy is by no means a perfect school. It has its share of teachers who should really find a new career path and students who create undesirable conditions, but these things are unavoidable. I'm currently a Junior, and in my three years I have witnessed a staggering amount of selflessness from the staff and a responsive administration. Teachers have consistency offered up their own time to help and are only looking to improve us students. Others that have made a point to speak poorly of legacy are more than likely self diagnosed failures, who believe the world is out to make their own lives difficult. They should know that school is a two-way street. Here at legacy I know that if effort is made by a student then the teachers will always match, if not exceed the students effort. This school is safe, clean, open, and makes every effort to be its best. Its national ranking is a testament to that. Don't be mislead. Legacy is a great school.

This school is honestly one of the worst places you could ever attend. The teachers here harass girls for what they're wearing and will strictly enforce the dress code on girls only. I watched a teacher tell a girl she was fat and forced her to go home. The teachers here will make you feel stupid, worthless, and won't help you when you reach out to them then proceed to tell you you're not making an effort. The students here are also out of control. The bullying is outrageous. For a whole year I was mocked and pushed around, they would make me feel horrible and then along with the teachers giving me crap it was unbearable.Plus almost all of the students here are big bible thumpers and if you don't conform to their beliefs you're treated as an outcast. The counselor's will probably not even see you or they just won't do anything about your situation. Along with the horrible staff and the horrible atmosphere in general the school is too large to navigate. The halls aren't even labeled. There's just a small piece of paper that has sections cut off so it's like good luck finding your classes. This school is horrible and if you actually love your child do not let them attend this school.

This school was first rate. I had both a gifted child and a special ed student attend Legacy. I found that my older child was challenged to be all that she could be she lettered repeatedly and did extremely well on her act. My youngest started out as a special ed student her goal was to graduate well out of that classification. She found the support of counseling and teachers that were willing to give her the one on one attention to help her achieve her goal. That being said the music program specifically Marching band and softball seem to eat away at the school. What I mean by that is if you are in band or on the varsity softball team your school experience is very different than the rest of the kids. These kids have it pretty easy and they never run into resistance on any level because they are the reason so much money comes to Legacy. We have to make sure that the little darling are not upset in any way because the money will stop coming in. yep if your not a band geek or an athlete no one knows your name. I would say that this school could improve by making it clear that recruit.

LHS has been a PROFOUND disappointment. Parent input is completely ignored because the teachers union reigns supreme. Leadership is impotent. Dress codes are not enforced. Crude language policy is not enforced. It seems morale among teachers is dismal. The math program tanked this year. Student academic anxiety is sky high because the system is failing them. Parents are not welcome to chaperone Home Coming (inside the actual dance). You will not be given a direct "no" answer. You are invited to take tickets, check coats or serve water but you are NOT allowed in the dance proper. This is frightening.

My student was a freshman this year, and I just figured this out -- DUH!!!! In relation to LHS's grading scale, an 89 is an A, a 79 is a B, and a 69 is a C. Really? What kind of school is this that grades as standard on a curve to inflate student grades? Sure does tell you something about their lack confidence in teaching and performance.

Academics? Does this school actually have academics? Legacy is a total "drama" school whose performance stinks! I, and many of the other parents I have spoken to, have not seen of any kind of academic excellence from this school except from students that would excel in any type of environment. The teachers do NOT care about student learning, all they care about are their statistics when it comes to passing so as to inflate their personal and school reputation. Students automatically get a 50% on ALL assignments even if they do not turn in anything, and get full credit when they turn in assignments weeks and months later -- how is that fair GPA-wise to the students who REALLY do the work? This is the WORST school my children have even been at and I cannot wait until I can put them in another school next year!

Legacy is so mediocre. The kids are egotistical and ethnocentric. The school culture is cliquey and a lot of a person's self worth is placed on the amount of money they have. For a mostly upper middle class demographic the students are awfully provinicial. The academics are subpar and the none of the teachers are anything to rave about. They do the least that's expected of them and go on. The school should focus on providing better academics. Also, the gossip that's lurking everywhere is so immature. Can't wait to get out.

Legacy's statistics, especially student grades & graduation statistics are hugely inflated by their flunking no student policy. They pass ALL students regardless of performance or classroom attendance. Students receive nothing below 50% on ALL assignments, including missing assignments. If a student misses class even if unexcused they are exempt from taking quizzes and they are entered into the grade book in such a way that those points do not contribute toward their grade. My student should have flunked, but teachers INTENTIONALLY did not enter a bunch of missing assignments and entered just enough so that they squeaked by and passed the class (i.e., if all of the assignments had been accounted for, they would not have passed). No parent ever wants their child to fail, but if they are not held accountable for their performance and are not being prepared adequately to succeed in college, then I cannot say that the school is doing their job. Even involved parents only have so much control of their children and need teachers to help in such a way that they inspire their students to succeed and not set them up to fail simply by pushing them through the system to be another stat.

I am shocked at the previous reviews & I have to disagree. Having seen schools from bigger cities, Legacy High is more like a sanctuary. When I asked my teen about "bullies" at Legacy, the response was fast "bullies don't stand a chance at this school". Bullying is serious and could ruin lives & the staff there appears to be truly committed to keep this school safe for kids who keep out of trouble.
