Last school year, Broomfield High School allowed our 9th-grade son to play video games in class, on his school-issued Chromebook, nearly every day for the first three quarters of the year. In the fourth quarter, the school allowed him to skip class 63 times—yes, 63, not a typo—all the while he was inside the school building (cafeteria, library), continuing to play video games, hour after hour, day after day, using BHS technology. He ended his freshman year at Broomfield High School with over 70 missing assignments and two failed classes.The school did not initiate contact to discuss any concern for the direction our son was heading, attendance, rule violations, discipline (there was literally none), possible interventions or supports—as though the staff was unaware, or unconcerned. We, the parents, drove the attempts at resolution, with little response from the school.“This school is teaching kids a reality that exists nowhere,” said one BHS staff member, toward the end of the year.Though this is our home high school, and close to our home, we will not send our son—or our other two children—to Broomfield High School.

Overall the teachers are highly educated and experienced. They are responsive and want kids to succeed. Perfection is not expected and kids seem to be allowed to make mistakes in a safe place, with caring adults to guide them down a better path. We came from a different district and Broomfield has been so much better. The principal is visible and very approachable. Plenty of activities, clubs, sports and lots of parent involvement.

I was uncomfortable and bullied thoroughly throughout my entire experience at this school. I'm from a low-income family and I dress comfortably as I don't feel comfortable showing off my entire body (as most of the students here do). Most students at this school come here with basically no top on or no pants and prance around, it's actually quite disgusting and appalling. I've also seen teachers looking down into other students' "shirts" numerous times or checking them out, which is absolutely disgusting. There have been no repercussions for these actions, either, as the school seems to almost encourage this behavior. If you are not a varsity athlete or a popular girl or boy, you will be bullied and harassed your entire time here. You will have next to 0 friends and no one will want to hang out with you, basically. If you want friends or people who won't humiliate you just because of what you wear, I recommend joining a band/orchestra. The people there are super sweet and aren't entitled, arrogant, cliquey kids.In general, the people here are super entitled and spoiled and will make fun of you if you aren't athletic or popular. If you don't fit into either of those categories or you are a minority, you will be bullied and treated like dog poop. Although there are some sweet people here and nice groups you can join that'll have your back, the majority of people here are really annoying. Honestly, being at this school has caused my anxiety and depression to reach new heights that it never has before.The staff are either super helpful or super demeaning. The staff basically favor those who are into sports or are popular, but some teachers can be nice to you if you are nice to them, I guess. The worst experience I had with a teacher was when my science teacher made me stand up and stand next to this popular boy. She said, "What's the difference between these two?" and the entire class shouted, "[My name] is ugly!" I'm not sure why my science teacher insisted on humiliating me every single day, as I was actually doing fairly well in her class, but it's whatever. I mean, she definitely contributed to a lot of my anxiety issues and self-esteem problems, but hey, sports right!?Anyways. The education itself and school itself isn't the problem. It's really just the general population of this school that's the problem. But I guess it's just expected of high school, y'know? All of them are cliquey. Anyways, I recommend homeschooling all the way over this hell.

Overall there are some really great teachers who want to see kids succeed. They offer tutor time on Thursdays starting at 1:30. Teacher are in there classroom and students come to them for extra help. My son had Ms. Carroll. I heard from other parents that she is really hard on students who are athletes. She is very slow at grading and sometimes kids were ineligible because it took her so long to enter grades. When my son needed help she was never in her classroom during tutor time. I would email her asking when he could meet with her to get extra help or redo an assignment. I never received a response back. When my son would talk to her she would be very condesending, like she knew she had the power if he was eligible or not. Almost smirky like in her tone. I really wished I had listen to the other parents and asked for a different Spanish teacher. If your child is starting at Broomfield and you see Ms. Carroll as their teacher, change immediately. She is in the wrong profession. Her goal is not to see students succeed.

This school has been amazing for both of my kids. I have a boy and a girl and both have had great teachers, amazing leadership, loads of clubs to choose from and many many advanced classes to chose from.

Great school community, they have been around a long time and know how to get things done. Great academics, school clubs ,sports and staff is exceptional !!

When I look around the nation and see problems with cliques, jocks, mean girls etc in today's HS environment, I am happy to say my senior has never experienced or reported this at BHS.Broomfield is a school of good kids from good homes for the most part. This is represented in decorum and achievement in the classroom.This may be (2015) the happiest, friendliest HS student body in Colorado 4A size High Schools.Great parents, coaches (our experience is w the football program) teachers complete the formula BHS employs for success.Kids from all cultures, incomes, color, origin etc get along well. Genuine friends with everyone seems to be the cool thing at the school.I wish there was greater attention to real life preparation. Classes with money handling and responsibility and family management are sorely needed by this upper middle-class student body.All-in-all if you are lucky enough to enroll students at Broomfield during this period in time, you will be able to enjoy the high school years with your kids as opposed to the constant drama we see in high schools nationally.A great learning and competing institution. I hope it stays that way. We Broomfield parents are very proud of our Eagles. Go Eagles!

Many reviews about this school are negative, but I believe many of those are written by students are bitter about their own problems. Broomfield is a school that doesn't have cliques and for the most part everyone is friends with everyone. Some of the teachers aren't the best, but there are some amazing ones as well. The photography program is incredible, one of the best in the state. There is a new photography room that is impeccable and it is the only high school in the state to have color film printing as part of one of the classes. The athletics are very good and there is a sense of school spirit at every school event. The principal, Ginger Ramsey, will let no problem go unsolved and does her best to create a comfortable environment for all students so that they can learn to the best of their abilities and also encourages every student to excel. The Special Education program is also outstanding. The special ed. students are really integrated into the school population and many times are much more popular than the general population. Broomfield has its flaws like every other high school but overall I highly recommend it.

BHS focuses much more on athletics than academics. I've been constantly bullied just for not participating in sports. I'm overlooked by every teacher and most students. There are fights every day, and students are inconsiderate in the hallways and classrooms. The teachers don't listen at all when you need help or have any questions. The administration is even worse; they will blame it on you when they don't help you. I told counselors about the bullying and they all told me to basically get over it and just join a sport. There aren't many classes to choose from, especially if you need advanced or more challenging courses. Passing periods are so short and crowded that I haven't used my locker at all. I can't think of one positive thing about BHS. If you're not a varsity athlete or cheerleader, you will not fit in here.

As a parent of a former, and a current, student at this school, I can give it a positive review. Are there not-so-good things? Yes. Are there great things? Yes. This is a large, affluent, suburban, general education high school. My experiences over six years of direct contact have met, or exceeded, my expectations. Some of the teachers are incredible. Some simply average. The teaching malcontents have left since my daughter's years (2005-2009). BHS offers a broad range of programs, lots of emphasis on ADV and AP-level courses. One quibble, not particular to BHS: There is an OVER-emphasis on college-prep at the expense of the "shop" courses. Not every kid is college material, sorry. There is also a bit of grade-inflation, as with most of suburban America, but my daughter (and her "clan" of 20+) have all had little to no difficulty at their higher ed institution of choice. Four of her friends finished their 4-yr degrees in 3 yrs, without summer terms, due to the education and experiences they had at BHS. Strong extra-curriculars in all areas, but as mentioned in some of the other reviews, BHS prides itself on its athletics. But the academics are excellent as well.

As with all schools, there are some great teachers and some bad ones. However, my Geometry teacher in class would go over homework and then just tell us to read to examples in the textbook to learn The concepts for that night's homework. Therefore, not teaching us anything. Other than that the academics are ok, I have heard about better, but also about far worse. The real issue here though is the social atmosphere. Unless you are a varsity athlete, you seem to be overlooked by the administration and many of the students. The principals don't seem to listen to any parent complaints or student input. Overall this is an ok school, but they focus way too much on athletics over academics. I would recommend Monarch High School, Legacy High School or Peak to Peak High School over Broomfield any day as I have friends at all of them and have attended events at them as well.

Graduated Salutatorian a couple years back but found the first year of college rather difficult at a top 30 institution. This school was way too focused on athletics rather than academic excellence. I regret ever going there. Parents send your kids to MONARCH. I attended a few AP classes as well as calculus 3, which wasn't offered at BHS,and I loved the school, the teachers, and the student body. The kids there were just so much smarter. I hated my experience at BHS.

As a parent of a BHS student, I can say this school has no accountability. While there are some truly amazing teachers, unfortunately there are many who don't teach to State and District standards. It is a common theme amongst many parents that the BHS administration ignores parent complaints and rarely addresses any problems. This school only implements changes when forced to. They are not proactive or even close to cutting edge. Many surrounding schools are over 5 years ahead of BHS in implementing State standards, teacher accountability, teacher collaboration and have higher CSAP scores. Unfortunately, many parents don't realize this and are sucked into the marketing fluff often spoken by the principal. Change is needed in the leadership at this school!
