Broomfield Academy is not a school, for learning.It is an overpriced, in need of major repair, shed that makes parents into teachers.There is No individual learning. Plan on getting a group of tutors to help your student retain information.IXL for Math and Reading.The students are given several hours of homework daily, sometimes last all night.We didn't have time for extracurriculars.What is taught, in the school???????? Is what my husband and I said to each other.We pulled our students out. We found out the hard way.After being assessed on a public school level, both student's we're two grades behind in both Math and Reading, my students are in different grades.We had been at Broomfield Academy for four years.One of my students remained riddled with ear infections for four years. Now we have none. To me that says bacteria in the pool, clean it regularly.!!!!!!!My students should be now fluent in two languages. Should be.........I paid monies for my kids to be pushed through the system, with no base in academics.The monies Broomfield Academy receives Does Not pay for your child's education. High turn over with teachers.Staff in office, unorganized, dysfunctional, inappropriate, talk openly about students and parents poorly. So much a parent can disregard when you THINK your kids are happy.I feel like a fool.If any advice, find a school where the staff and teachers are happy.Be aware.Open your eyes, our kids deserve better. I used to love this school, now I believe they need to be AUDITED.Hopefully the students currently enrolled will persevere.

We feel we get a great value at Broomfield Academy. Sure, private school is costly, but its worth every penny of it. Our kids moved to Broomfield Academy 2 years ago from a well-known charter school and have really blossomed. The smaller class sizes and individual attention have especially helped my son. We love that they have a pool and get swimming lessons as part of the regular tuition. Our kids an involved in the soccer program, dance, swim team and chess club. My kids have learned a lot of Chinese (and order in Chinese at the local Chinese restaurants - fun!) and Spanish too. We have been very pleased, and are especially glad that they have added middle school. We will stay through 8th grade.

This school has a great concept but in action they fail miserably. The board is biased and totally unprofessional, the Principal is an emotional wreck and so are some of the teachers as a result. Bullying is allowed, provided the parents of the bullying child are considered VIPs and any concerns that are expressed WILL be held against parents. Make no mistake about that. Parents are expected to be seen but not heard. We cannot recommend this school in any capacity (and notice that I didn't even mention that the facilities are extremely shoddy... where do all the tuition dollars go??).

We moved our daughters to Broomfield Academy this year - one in First Grade and one in Preschool. We have been very impressed with both programs. The small class sizes in the elementary school allow for the teachers to truly individualize each child's experience - both socially and academically. The "interest projects" and other special projects give the students lots of practice presenting in front of peers and adults, and my daughter's confidence has grown significantly this year as a result. I have found the teachers and principal to be overwhelmingly available and responsive to all of my questions and concerns. We will definitely keep our daughters at Broomfield Academy!

This school embodies all of the good you want from education for your child. My son has entered in 6th grade with identified learning differences and the school, teachers, staff, principal and students have embraced him, challenged him, supported him and have given him the individualized education he has needed. We loved his public elementary school as well, but the large class sizes were difficult for him and those sizes were going to be even more challenging for him to navigate in Middle School. He is enjoying learning and having success in this academic environment, as well as has a voice again in class, gets the support he needs and is, best of all, happy. Broomfield Academy has the rare, amazing ability to meet students where they are at and help them thrive!

Teachers and principal do not respond to e-mails and phone calls. the educational plans for students do not address specific needs, are not measurable, do not list specific materials to be used, etc. The school seems unwilling to work with tutors who may actually know something about special education.

We have had a really positive experience at Broomfield Academy. We moved to this school from public/charter and my kids have thrived. Math, which was a headache for my daughter, now makes sense to her. My son, who was getting in trouble at his old school, now likes going to school, is getting good grades and is using his manners, for a change. The school is small, all of the staff knows my kids, their habits, needs and potential problems. The principal is a doll, kind, experienced and fair. My kids teachers give them lots of individual attention, and work with them at their level. This really helps their confidence...and, they have good friends at the school. The fact that there is swimming lessons as part of PE is great, as we don't have to take them elsewhere to learn to swim or to do swim team. We wish we had found the school a few years earlier. We plan to stay through the end of middle school.

We chose Broomfield Academy for our children because we were looking for a liberal arts school with a strong foundation in reading, writing and math at the core. The additional technology opportunities are a great supplement, but are not used to replace the direct teaching instruction our children are receiving. There is hardly any unnecessary screen time and only one standardized test per year. I appreciate that the teachers give our children a lot of individualized attention and are able to draw from a variety of materials for different learning styles. I have found them all to be highly qualified and very committed. The principal is very professional and also extremely qualified. She is recognized in Colorado as a leader in gifted education.

I am surprised by the negative reviews because they aren't true at all. The middle school is awesome. The math instruction is very individualized with real homework (no IXL) and a lot of direct instruction (6:1 teacher:student ratio in my student's class). The principal is firm, but very kind.

Middle school needs a lot of work. There's very little math instruction. Homework was just to do 20 minutes of anything they wanted on Khan or IXL, and they weren't help responsible for it. They're supposed to be an individualized school but the only thing that is really individualized is math, and this just means that the kids are moving at their own speed. This sounds great, but it translated as no speed at all, and too many kids in different places. The teacher could not possibly keep up with all of them to give them solid instruction. Not a good formula for teaching math. The Principal seems very ineffective and argumentative. We've moved our kids out.

If anyone is looking for a place for their kids to take swim lessons I highly recommend Broomfield Academy! My boys have had three lessons so far this summer and have learned more already than they have in the previous two summers combined. Elizabeth has worked with each of them at their own level (one loves water and the other not at all), and has been extremely flexible to allow us to schedule lessons at times and days that work for us, not on a set schedule. Amazingly I am only paying $5 more than I was for semi private lessons at the rec center. I can't recommend Broomfield Academy highly enough for swim lessons!

I like the fast pace, especially in math. My children are thriving. I am confident my middle school child will be ready for Algebra II in 9th grade. I have heard of changes in the elementary school to "Math-in -Focus" or Singapore Math, which will slow down the pace for better understanding. It's not my preference, because we are a math family. I am thrilled with the LA instruction. This is where BA shines above the rest. My children are improving in writing and reading comp. The technology classes are great too. I like the programming and 3-D printing. I also like how well-rounded the school is, balancing STEM with the Arts. I don't believe administrators are micromanaging these forums. They seem very responsive to comments and are very invested in the school.

The earlier reviews on dec 8th &16th are interesting. its as if the school watches bad reviews and attempts to negate them with positive ones. I Could be wrong :-) I agree with the parent from Feb 20th, Their math needs a review. Teachers are pressured to run through the curriculum. Often my kid comes with HW on topics not touched on at school. If you look at the review from Dec 16th you will understand. It mentions that their child in 2nd grade learnt 6 NEW Topics in Math in a span of 21/2mths (Dec break incl)! It shows how quickly they want the child to move. Please note that my child is TAG and very capable of handling pressure and fast pace. However, as a parent I think its important to sit longer on some units. There's quality and then there's quantity. Depends on what you want for your child. Other areas also need to slow down. Kids start on a project, take materials from home and often do not finish it because of lack of time. Individualized placements are based on convenience of groupings by teachers rather than actual tests/reviews. The Principal and the teachers need to sit down and find the best way to get high achievement without compromising on quality.

Overall it's good academically, but there is a lot to be desired with the math program in the middle school. The aren't enough kids to justify giving consistent and direct instruction (there are too many students at different places in the curriculum). Students just sort of have to work on their own, and try to figure out concepts without preliminary instruction from a teacher. They can ask questions and try to get help from a teacher but this doesn't always work. Otherwise, I think it's a good place on a social level, which can be hard to find in a middle school.

In three short months, my second grader (started in October) has learned multiplication and division, fractions, money and time, and geometry. He just finished a unit on the Constitution and the U.S. Government. He has also written and typed two essays, read 12 chapter books, leaned over a hundred vocabulary words (such as aquarium and enormous), and will be giving his oral presentation on Isaac Newton today. He also joined the math club, which he loves. My daughter joined the 6th grade two months ago. It's a little too small, but very sweet and very innocent. The schoolwork is manageable. So far she has given three oral presentations (including one in Spanish and one on sports in Feudal Japan), a forth one is due in January. She is working out of an accelerated 7th grade math book with just one other boy. She has already had two big tests in Physics and one on 17th century Europe, She has written several essays and stories and has read three adult novels. All this has been done in two short months using a computer provided by the school. She also takes archery and swim lessons for PE. This is my experience. I hope this gives parents an idea of what to expect from BA.

I am saddened to see this post about Broomfield Academy. We have had such good experiences here and see our children happy and learning. All schools have fundraisers. That is the norm and they are optional.

Broomfield Academy is going downhill. Most of their teachers are new with little experience. The turn around of teachers is high. By the time the teacher learns how individualization works they leave. I think their program up to 1st grade is their strength. Over the past year they have had many fund raisers. They need funding for every little thing. Middle school fundraising for their trips, fundraising for a new playground equipment. Almost ever month there seems to be a bake sale, jamba juice etc etc..The latest one was discriminatory. The children whose parents participated in fund raising for playground equipment will be allowed to wear out of uniform clothes for 1 whole week. Those children whose parents didn't/couldn't participate due to financial constraints will come in uniforms. Such open discrimination amongst children for a financial decision that their parents make is completely thoughtless and reckless. Also, the middle school has no science lab, no sports, no clubs. The Principal tries hard to solve issues with a smile and positive attitude but with no actual progress. Boulder Country Day is slightly lower than BA in tuition but far better facilities.

My son attended pre-K and 1st grade summer prep at Broomfield Academy. He is 2E. We were a bit worried when he began, but he did very well. He currently attends a "highly" ranked grade school, which does not do nearly as well for him. He fell behind in kindergarten at his current school, but caught up over the summer at Broomfield Academy. Our "highly" ranked grade school could use some lessons from Broomfield Academy. The teachers and staff have always been great. Principle is very affable.

What can we say about Broomfield Academy it was the best decision we could have made for our little girl. It s been almost 2 years since she started and we are still just as impressed as the first day. The staff and teachers have continuously exceeded all of our expectations. Watching how the staff and teachers interact with the kids makes it perfectly clear that they are genuinely concerned about all of the children and the education they receive. Our little girl is currently in Pre-Kindergarten and she is already starting to read on her own and perform simple math. Her vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds and we are constantly blown-away by her advanced vocabulary and her ability to properly use these words when speaking. We are also quite impressed with her Spanish and Chinese skills. Broomfield Academy also offers many activities for the children including dance, music, swimming and more. A child s education is very important, and we personally feel that Broomfield Academy has been the best decision we could have made for our little girl. We look forward to watching her grow and flourish at Broomfield Academy.

We have been with the school since 1.2011.This is a fantastic school! My children are getting a very well rounded education. Not only do the small class sizes and excellent teachers promote advanced learning, but the school offers classes others do not. This includes chinese, spanish, swimming, art, music and PE. All of the staff is very commited to the children and learning. We have tried another private school in Broomfield, but this school far exceeds what the other school offered for academics. If you believe in early childhood education and investing in your child's future, this is the school for you!
