The school welcomes all, unless you are a newcomer and from the very beginning. Communication from the HAA is disjointed, knowing kids names is great but not knowing or caring how they’re doing is problematic. The disrespect you see from the kids on the playing fields is reflected in the school as well. Teachers get frustrated far too easily - patience should be a requirement for the profession. Teaching as a whole doesn’t work for every student. The amount of stress placed on test scores is unfortunate. If students don’t test well, that is a reflection of the teachers. That is the problem though you get what you pay for with staff and gone are the days of people who teach because they genuinely love to teach. Unfortunately St Pats teaches to test. When the principal misguidedly titles herself as the COO you’re moving into corporate metrics and not teaching ones. Switched to public school

I am disappointed with my experience at St. Pats and we plan to leave. It is a small, predominately white classic Catholic school that feels quite stuck in a time machine. While there is a strong sense of community, it is not the kind of community that I want for my child. The lack of diversity is astounding, especially considering how diverse the neighborhood has become in recent years. The students look the same and there appears to be an overall lack of an inclusive space for others. The world has changed, how we as a collective society think has changed too, and St Pats has clearly not. Academics are lacking in so many ways. For example, students learn Spanish on an app and there is a serious lack of arts and electives offered, likely due to such low funding. Critical thinking is not pushed, students just complete assignments and get a passing grade. I want so much more for my child and this is definitely not the place for this type of learning. Lastly, the principal oddly prides herself on knowing every child. However, standing outside to wave and say their name in the morning does not mean you actually know the child. Do you know their hobbies? Their aspirations? How they like to think and learn? THAT is knowing a child. Maybe if they try that approach the schoolwill be able to get on the right track.

St. Patrick is an excellent school. The teachers genuinely care about the school and their students. The school environment is safe, clean and orderly which provides the students the best place to learn, grow and develop. We are constantly updating our equipment or installing the latest technology to offer a competitive learning environment. The curriculum is challenging and thoughtful which prepares the students for their future. The school community is a large family made up mostly parishioners, locals but also families who travel from Marine Park or Rockaway because they recognize the advantages of this school. My child has been here since Nursery and we love it. She is recognized for her individuality, is supported and is growing into an amazing young lady in part to this school and what she's learned.

St.Patrick Catholic Academy is an outstanding school that honors all students. Every student receives recognition and support. Every individual is recognized and celebrated for their positive contributions to the school and the community. The administration, faculty and parents have created a tremendous sense of community for generations. My children have been in St. Patrick Catholic Academy since they were in nursery school. I would highly recommend this school to anybody.

I have been at St. Pats for over 10 years and have 4 children that have attended the school from nursery on. As an educator myself, I cannot say enough about how confident I am in the education that my children are receiving. From the beginning, they were nurtured and supported both academically and emotionally which paved the way for their academic careers creating confident and successful learners. Being a part of St. Patrick Catholic Academy is being a large part of a small community! It is our home.

My grandchildren excel at this school. The parents and grandparents support the school by fundraising and volunteering. It serves the community and the community values St Patrick’s!

So far we have had an amazing experience at this school. This is our second year and I highly recommend anyone interested in coming to the school to do so. The community developed with in the school attendees and their parents exceed my expectations. The curriculum is very challenging and the teachers are very attentive.

At St. Patrick's, the education my child receives is second to none and this starts at the top. The principal, teachers, and faculty are amazing. All of them are passionate about what they do, and love the children. St. Patrick's exceeds my expectations. The surrounding Catholic schools do not come anywhere close to what this school has to offer. I love this school and treasure the friendships we have developed because of it.

Going in to our 5th year at this school with 3 children I feel they are supported, cared for and are learning at level commensurate or above peers at other schools. The schools continued success is very important to our family and we appreciate all the hard work and dedication of the faculty and families that volunteer.

I would never recommend this school. My child is much happier in his new school where the teachers know how to accommodate and acknowledge ALL learners.

Very disappointing this year! The principal I found to be rude. Insulted my family and I by blatantly telling us he was not a first responder. My husband several tours tours at ground zero and didn't need to be insulted by someone like this new principal. Another insulting conversation with the new principal was when I called her to ask if there would be a make-up for the talent show. She asked what my daughters talent was. I said Irish stepping dancing. The principalThen blatantly told me that step dancing is not a talent; how rude!!! My daughter has been competeing for 3 years and has many medals and trophies to prove otherwise! For a principalTo say if you aren't happy you can go elsewhere is just plain insulting!! She is not fit to be running St. Patrick's! I was willing to give her the year but was let down tremendously!

I think its very sad how families are so disrespected by the principal of this school. Someone needs to remind her that we the parents are the constituents that keep the school alive both emotionally and financially

I think the children who are learning morals and values need to be reinforced at home since this school learns religion. Parents are the ones that should be held responsible for the way your children act

Horrible school no one cares for this kids your my kids going there. Threee kids from older grade put my son against the wall and hit him at the gym. And one of the boys parents call me up and tells me I want to let you know that my son is not in trouble.

My child just graduated. I appreciate the school and its Principal. In middle school, my child got so much; I need to shout out to Mrs. McGivney, Mrs. Shapiro, and Mrs. Keenan for her patience through the high school application process. Also, Mrs. Gammone who makes Social Studies fun with culture lunches that teach children so much. I have dealt with 4 different Principals, at private and public schools, but Mrs. D'Emic is the only one so far that wants you to speak to her about issues and doesn't hold a grudge against you. Parents travel from Canarsie and Staten Island so their children can attend here. There are no perfect schools, but St. Pat's did a very good job for my child. Thank you!
