I adore this school. It has fostered my love for learning in every way imaginable, and I do honestly believe that it is on par academically with other NY private schools. Of course some of the teachers and students aren't the best, but not to a more significant degree than any other school. They have an amazing language and English program, science program is definitely improving, and I love my math teacher. Would not recommend it if your child loves history or athletics, but other than that I would recommend it to literally anyone. As a current middle schooler, I feel that its no-grade policy has made me love learning and seek out the classes I love and allowed me to grow in those as opposed to what I think I'll get an A in. I have heard of alcohol/drug use in the high school, but not. at all in the middle school. The staff (especially security) are all lovely and create a very safe and comfortable learning environment, and I look forward to going there every day. It's been an amazing experience to go there since I was 3, and I'd highly recommend it to any parent or child who loves learning and wants to set themselves up for success.

The absolute worst and most traumatizing school imaginable. I left for high school and still struggle with the extreme racism and longterm harm this school perpetuated into my senior year. The only thing this school gave me was a killer common app essay. Do not send your kids here if they are not white and extremely wealthy.

This school is for independent learners who want to explore the world and education on their own terms. Fantastic experience.

Saint Ann's is an amazing school that provides a unique opportunity for kids to learn without a grade or number looming over their exploration. Of course, some students like the benchmark that grades provide or need the structure that graded work provides. However, for self-motivated learners who are motivated by interest and passion, Saint Ann's is a gift.

I wanted to love this school based on their success in getting kids into good colleges. But the awful process that kids have to go through to get there is not worth it. Beware!

Other than the rampant use of alcohol and drugs in the upper school, Saint Ann's is a fantastic institution.

St Anns encourages students to think independently & challenge the traditional views. Students are expected to deeply pursue their passion within their chosen subjects at high school. There is a broad range of electives that motivates most of the students, most of the time.

Saint Anns is amazing. Its a safe and open place where students can express themselves however they wish to.

Being at Saint Ann's since kindergarten and continuing on to my current ninth grade level, I can honestly say it has been an amazing experience. The teachers are phenomenal! Most are completely over qualified, ranging from Harvard lecturers to published authors, to doctors. If you as a student have the motivation and determination then you will thrive in the environment that Saint Ann's harbors. Contrary to the general vibe that I've gotten with other reviews, the school is only unstructured if you choose it to be. If you spend as little amount of time as possible on homework and school work then the 40k a year is a ridiculously overpriced expenditure. If you put all of the school's resources to good use then you may achieve anything under the stars. The curriculum, if properly applied, can get you past college level courses and into territory that was previously thought to be unreachable in high school. The school falls nothing short of AMAZING The only cons: The gym department isn't the greatest. Semi-con: There are no grade-wide tests. Some teachers give finals/midterms, some don't. The only "grades" you receive are written essays from each teacher on progress in class.

Have 3 kids there and it is a really unique place. No one aspires to be captain of football team...becauset there is no football team. Instead students try to differentiate themselves by speaking multiple languages and playing multipe insturments. Yes unstructured, but for the right kids is very powerful as they are constatntly asked to decide what is important to them. Kids end up investing a lot of time into their passions. Teachers are for most part fantastic. Culture is powerful and kids that go there realize they are in special place. Despite no grades policy, feedback is copious. The fact that best colleges and universities treat St Anns grads so extraordinarly well speaks to the fulfilmnet of the ultimate goal, creating very passionate, questioning, and ultimately talented and enthusiastic young people. Only negative is almost a positive...they treat all kids like they are most talented kids in the world. So kids have pretty healthy egos. Overall, probably one of the best schools around for kids that don't need a lot of structure.

The teachers are nurturing and the class subjects interesting, but the school is very unstructured, and does not expect students to study until middle school (4th grade), which is late to instill good study habits. Basics such as spelling and grammar are not corrected at all in lower school. We decided to pull our child out because we worried it does not prepare a child to compete in higher education levels.
