After a dismal experience in public school our son learned to love school again. Alt School Brooklyn Heights and now Union Square was the best move we could have made for him. Tons of communication and support at this school!

My kids love to go to school here. We have experience attending public school as well and the difference is night and day. While my kids have proven to be good students regardless of the environment, at Alt they are given the chance to explore, question and truly absorb. They are becoming thinkers not just test takers. They are able to find relevance in their work as they can apply it in their project based learning. This is our 3rd year at Alt and our girls are truly growing as learners. While both of our kids have gone to Brooklyn Heights one of the is also now is middle school at Alt union square continuing to develop as an excited learner.

We are in our 3rd year at AltSchool, and couldn't be happier. We love AltSchool's focus areas, and how connected and engaged our kids are. They have grown beyond our expectation, and we feel like AltSchool is more than a school, they are our partner in the growth and development of our kids.

We love everything about this school. Our child is excited to go to school each day. The teachers are wonderfully supportive and we can't imagine a better environment for our kid!

Beyond amazing. You will not regret sending your kids to this school. Excellent school head, educators, school environment, curriculum, communication to parents, etc. Most importantly, our kids LOVE the school so much that they don't want to leave when we go pick them up. Their eyes are shining and that tells the entire story of how much quality education they are receiving.

Terrible teachers. Children are not happy there.

Lots of potential, and some strong teachers, but the administration really does seem like they are continuously surprised and on a learning curve for how to run a school. They do have a strong technology bent (which we like), but more and more their proprietary tech seems like a barrier between the school and the parents. The technology they use to communicate was originally designed for teachers, so they ported it over for the parents, and it feels like it. You can't post anything yourself, nor can you communicate with other members of the community. So what's the point? Why not just use email or Google Groups and get on with teaching our kids? There is also near zero parental community except for what the parents put together themselves. In the end, teachers are great, the technology is OK, but the administration is just getting on their feet and it often feels like it.

Superb communication and updates from teachers. Great combination of hands on projects, outdoor and physical activities and classroom technology. Small classes and individual learning plans. We couldn't be happier.
