It is sickening that a school like this could remain open under the terrible leadership it has. The students are not nurtured or treated with respect- I feel that my child is unsafe, but my concerns fall on deaf ears. Parents get even less respect. The principal, Ms O, cares only about herself and clearly dislikes children. The assistant principals seem kinder but stressed. I worry every day as I let my child go to school and wish I had a better option. He has had a few good teachers but is not learning what i think a third grader should know. parents are not involved because we are afraid of that O!

P,S 274 is a school that needs improvement. My experience with this school as a parent was not great. The percentage of black children is very small and they were treated as minority,It is very sad that in the U .S.A. these problems still exist. Complaining is a waste of time because the staff cover each other.

Yesterday was the first day and first time in this school for my 4th grade boy. I have never seen such a committed and caring group of people. Mrs. Ollivierra-Jones (Principal), Mr. Zuzeck (Asst. Principal), Mrs. Joseph (Nurse) and Mrs. Robles (Counselor) all got involved in helping accommodate the needs of my boy. They spent all morning with me discussing how they could make it safe for my son who has a severe allergy to nuts. They won me over. Not to mention his teacher whom I will not name to protect the identity of my boy, who was very sweet and promises to be a wonderful teacher.

I went to this school when i was younger and i am 32 yrs old now. My favorite teacher was Mrs. McEnteen she taught me in 5th grade until this day i always treasure my moments there. I was in the Glee club and it gave me confidence Mr. Russo was the best. Oh and myu penmanship was perfected there till this day i value my handwritting.

The principal of this school has no real interest in the education and well being of her students. She is at best mediocre in her response to a parents cry for assistance and has led the school down a slippery road to failure. While under her watch my child has not only wasted two years in a poor class setting he has not received the services needed to succeed. SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE!!!!!

In my judgement, P.S. 274 is an incredibly outstanding elementary school. General belief is that private schools provide better education then public schools. However, I am a proud graduate of the Kosciusko School (P.S. 274) of the class of 2007. I have had to switch schools about 6 times for personal reasons but out of all the schools, P.S. 274 just happens to be the best school that I've attended. Although, I haven't completed my high school career yet, so far I've never had such a memorable experience from any other school. It's teachers are truly remarkable and show care in teaching their students. The music program is engaging and the learning environment is wonderful. Aside from great education, there's always student activities going on. I remember learning so much from their clubs such as the photography program and the hockey & chess club, which I believe has been renamed to the sports & fitness club. It's just a very good school. If you're looking for a school for you're child in the area, P.S. 274 is the best in the district.

My child is now in fifth grade at this school, so I have experienced both the old principal, Dr. O'Gormon, and the current principal, Ms. Ollivierra. My experience has not been positive since the new principal came. I have felt unwelcome in the school, and I have not seen my child's problems solved when i contacted Ms. O about bullying. In this school the average child seems forgotten, as they put all the effort in raising the low scores and keeping the high scores high.

I can rate this school as a 2! The administrators from the principal to the assistant principal Ms Perez have no control over these children nor the parents. They actually are apathetic and one doesn't communicate w/ the other. It's crazy what is going on. There are excellent teachers w/ more understanding than those two clowns!
