My son was always well above grade level in all academic areas. He tested into their G&T program and attended 2nd grade here. It was by far the worst experience of his grade school life. He quickly began hating school and didn't want to attend. Something took a turn for the worst. I believe it had to do with what their perception of gifted looks like. Gifted should be treated as special needs.... and kids are not just there for numbers!!! They are people! My child was suddenly broken and failing every class with no explanation. To make matters worse instead of offering support and intervention they set up a meeting that I was told would be an "IEP" meeting but actually was just me the AP and his teacher telling me I should take my child elsewhere. When I mentioned evaluation, they refused. As if a gifted student couldn't possibly be twice exceptional and receive services. In no way was this the right way to treat any Parent or student. I would stay away. My son is currently on the honor roll in the sixth grade and when I reflect on his second-grade school year and look back at his report cards I can't help it but feel such regret for ever stepping foot in this school with my child. He is intellectual, kind and sensitive and this school was not a good environment for him at all.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL EVER! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY IT'S TEST SCORES. THE PRINCIPAL IS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND FAKE. THE WORST PTA IN THE AREA. THEY DO NOTHING FOR THE CHILDREN. WHEN I TALK TO OTHER PARENTS FROM DIFFERENT SCHOOLS IN THE AREA THEIR PTA IS ACTIVE IN THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY. I CAN NOT WAIT TILL MY CHILDREN FINISH AND THEY ARE OUT OF THIS SCHOOL. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS SCHOOL. WHEN YOU ENTER THEY TRY TO WHOA YOU WITH THEIR ROBOTS AND TECHNOLOGY BUT THEY LACK IN THEIR EDUCATION. MY CHILDREN ARE STILL STRUGGLING READERS BUT THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT PUTTING THEM IN FROM OF TECHNOLOGY. BEWARE!!!

I thought by sending my child to this school with similar cultural back ground as ours would be best. Boy was I wrong. My child attended this school 2010-2013. They were the most stressful years. I don't even know why they're rated "A" in school environment. The kids in this school are loud, rude and always look to fight & most of the parents are the same. Makes you think how are they raising their kids?? My child was bullied by two kids and scratched by another to the point where it looked like gashes. I had to involve the assistant principal. She tried to play some kind of psychology game with me and my child. There are fights in the hallway and lunch room. During breakfast time the teachers are not paying attention to what's going on. This where my child was bullied most of the time. The lunch room staff is rude to the kids. There is no comparing Brooklyn schools to Queens schools. Wished I would've taken my child out sooner, would've saved us heart ache and head aches. The neighborhood, bottom line, IS the PITTS. There was only one teacher there that helped my child-- she was one of the best there, and she refuses to go back to this school.

My child has been attending this school since Kindergarten and I must say that the open communication and involvement with parents and students is amazing. The staff keep an open communication with the parents concerns and they find ways to help the community around them in understanding what is being taught in the school.
