So basically this review is in my option from my child’s point of view and choose to make my child’s age unknown. In my opinion, this school only runs in the money that goes in their pockets. The teachers don’t care about my child’s education but about the money. Complaints from my child have been non-stop about the education. Some teachers play favoritism towards certain kids and up their grades more. Some teachers only give a book or a video and expect my child to pass a test and blatantly blame them for not passing. It should not be my child’s fault if the teachers were not more in depth or good at teaching at all and only relied on a book. And the disrespect from them is like you’re paying for the worst public school in America. A situation happened with my child and the principal had gotten very mad with my child and scared my child. Even though my child did get in trouble, she clearly handled the situation wrongly and treated my child like an animal or a prisoner. And she would also not have respect for parents either. I came for my child one day and she didn’t even say hello but raised her voice. Other parents have told me that they had the same experience. She is part of the reason I have left this school. Another student had a similar situation and did not yell at them one bit because she loves playing favoritism. She doesn’t say hello or good morning to students but would rather put them in check because of their posture or asking for a pencil in class. I’m sure other kids in my child’s class has dreaded seeing her pass in the halls because that’s all she does. She only treats 3rd grade and below with a smile. It’s like they’re in the military. And the teachers talk about students badly in classes also. Another reason why my child left. My child grades dropped so randomly as soon as they got in that school. The school also provides no school trips since 2018. And especially wince the tuition is so high, they can’t even take them to the zoo and I would be expecting so much more. And all the principle does is nag and nag for money and doesn’t care for children’s well being. I don’t mean to sound so rude but it’s definitely not worth a single cent. My child is now in public school and loves it so much more and even gives more opportunities and free school trips. My child has been hesitant because of the teachers and education when I bring up going back to St Barnabas so we will be doing public only.

This review is my upmost and honest opinion about the school. This school is all about money in my personal opinion. The teachers don’t challenge the students enough and their teaching abilities are very low maintenance. Most of the teachers including the principal plays favoritism among the students and makes it very obvious. Most of the favoritism goes towards the boys in school, and some teachers don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re doing it. The teachers also expect you to get what they’re teaching without breaking the the steps down, they expect students to read a book and pass a test. And if all the students fail, they’ll get a scolding. This school has many problems wrong with it and the main problems of the school are the teachers and the principal. The principal has no respect for the parents nor the students. This was my most honest opinion about St.Barnabas Elementary School.

This has been the BEST year at St. Barnabas for our children and my family! Ms. Iorio and her staff are committed to a "Happy Child" to the society! The teachers are doing a wonderful job and work really hard for the development of the children each day! Apart from studies, the students are taught moral values and discipline.

My son is in St. Barnabas Elemntary School and this staff is very uncooperative, I have not had no support and my child has lost big learning opportunites due to their lack of cooperation. The communication between parents and teachers is very poor. I totally do not recommend this school.

The only good thing about this school is the private school structure. Which is in every private school but this one is ridiculous. This school has changed its principal so many times in just two years and more before that. My son went their for Prek and Kindergarten and between that time the school had three different principals. This school is all about money and they never do anything for the kids. Everything you have to pay for as if tuition and re-registration wasn't enough. Students hardly go on trips. This is the only school I know who doesn't have the little ones do Christmas or even Easter shoes for family. Not to mention the curriculum oh my gosh, the new principal doesn't believe in homework. Your paying money basically for a daycare. My son is way behind compared to public school kids and I have to teach him at home. I thought keeping him there due to familiarity was better for him but it's not. He won't be going back. Also the staff there aren't cut out for it, most of the staff got their jobs because their from the neighborhood, spouse of staff, or volunteer bc their child attends the school.

I graduated in 2009 and attended Fordham Prep on a scholarship. I was not ready for high school at all. I did not talk properly and sounded like a fool with all those rich kids from Bronxville, Crestwood, Riverdale... Thankfully my freshman English teacher spent a lot of time helping me out, which is how I wrote this with such great grammar. In the end it all comes down to moving to a nicer neighborhood with better schools.

My son has been in St Barnaba's for 5 consecutive years, and even though I love that he can learn about the Catholic faith, I have to agree that this school is OVERCROWED and that's a concern.. I'm looking into move to a town with a good school district ( pelham or eastchester), so I can pull him out of St Barnabas .It's still a better option than the failling schools district in the Bronx and Yonkers, but if you can afford to pay a little extra, look for a better school dsitrict and put your child in a public school.

St. Barnabas Elementary School has a new administration, brought in during the summer of 2010, and quite frankly, the school is taking off! Enrollment is climing on a daily basis.
