Our experience at Whittier has been nothing short of REMARKABLE! We have two children at Whittier (with opposite learning styles) that have both been given opportunities to shine and learn in their own way. The faculty is incredibly supportive and really works as a team to meet each and every student's needs, lead by example through the Principal. Having a kiddo with learning disabilities isn't always an easy task and the team at Whittier goes above and beyond to help and be as inclusive as possible. We couldn't have gotten through last year without the whole team at Whittier. It's also worth noting that as transplants to Boulder, raising kids without the help of family around, our fellow Wildcat friends have quickly become our family. They're quick to raise to the occasion, be good of bad, with a huge smile on their face. We love being a Whittier Wildcat family and couldn't be happier to champion this school!

We have been at Whittier for the past two years and are so glad to be part of this wonderful community. We relocated to Boulder shortly before my oldest son started Kindergarten. We toured a ton of schools, read all the online reviews and ultimately chose Whittier due to the school's International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and the diversity of the student body. Our son has been surrounded by students (and parents) who are from around the world. He has learned about so many different foods, cultural norms and celebrations in an authentic way that we couldn't find elsewhere. We also appreciate that the IB programming emphasizes nurturing curiosity and building a love of learning. While my son has excelled in the areas of reading and math, he has also learned how to author books on topics of his choosing, discovered a love of history and expanded his love of art (Thanks, Jenn!). We are so proud of the well-rounded person he is growing into and grateful that his days aren't just spent being taught to ace standardized texts. As transplants to Boulder we have also found an amazing community of parents, many of who are also transplants, that are eager to build friendships and invest in the school. Every school in BVSD has their pros and cons but we are so grateful we found this gem of a place in the heart of Boulder!

Our son attended Whittier since Kindergarten and will be graduating and transitioning into Middle School this year. Whittier has been an excellent school, challenging, diverse, engaging and with a great academic program. Being a university professor myself, I can attest to the high level of commitment from the teachers and staff at this school. Highly organized and accountable teachers, enough freedom for the student to be a self-directed learner within a contained and guided environment, also, it is a beautiful school with historical charm. Highly recommend this school and the neighborhood!

This school is awesome - Becky Escamilla is an incredible leader and makes the school so wonderful. The diversity and mixed socioeconomic population are things that work so well in this school.

We are so impressed with Whittier! Simply what they do works. All of our four children have attended excellent private schools at various times and I must say that Whittier has been all around, more impressive and accurate in how it brings learning to our child. We wish they all would have had Whittier for their elementary foundation. A fantastic, compassionate, vibrant, loving place for all children. Go Wildcats!

Flatirons Elementary is wonderful because of the parents, staff and community togetherness. We come together and get things accomplished as a team.
