My daughter has been continuously unfolding her potential since graduating from Tara. I feel that the emphasis on performing arts for the high school years is beneficial. The curriculum and the environment meet the students in a healthy and developmentally appropriate way.

Tara offers a robust classical liberal arts education--what college used to be and sadly no longer is--plus amazing travel including big cities, outdoor adventures, the world's best theater, museums, and concerts. Engaging the students in theater to teach history, the human condition, character development, story, and so much more is a brilliant teaching method. The math and science programs were great for my son, and he is planning to pursue math and theater in college. The magic and beauty created when Tara students sing together brings audiences to tears. All this plus the Honor Code and Substance Policy make Tara an extremely rare community that develops fine human beings.

Tara has given our children the best high school experience I can possibly imagine. The drama focus has allowed them to explore what it really truly means to be a human being, the academics have been challenging and supportive, and the support the students provide each other in every way (including upholding the substance and media policies) is inspiring. The impulse of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education is strong and healthy in the school, and it is exciting to see such healthy adolescents. We feel lucky - no, blessed - every day to be a part of the Tara community and for our children to have had this gift of education. There truly is no place else on the planet like Tara!

A tip : there is a tendency to showcase and re-showcase the students who are already the best at acting, singing, and dancing. My tip is to advocate for yourself, especially with advance warning of what you want. The students who advocate for themselves tend to get their needs met. I've seen it happen many times.
