Bolingbrook highschool has all the resources a developing young adult needs to springboard their life into a great future.

My son transfered here from OPRF where he was NOT receiving the support he needed. (Basically OP formed their own judgemental opinions because of his race & he was not the glowing AP honor student whom they prefer) They wtote him off, made him feel below average. It was heartbreaking to see his performance & lack of interest decline further, so... I moved to Bolingbrook. I shared our poor experience at OP with staff/teachers at BB. They welcomed him, gave him the support he needed, included me in weekly updates via email/phone & in person. He is now a Sr. and was accepted into 3 Div 1 Universities where he will also play hockey. I am so proud and very thankful for BB. They are involved & do care about your children. What I've noticed out here in BB, Plainfield & Naperville vs living in OP ...The community has abnormally high standards for everything. Complaining about the smallest things like garbage cans, kids riding bikes on the streets instead of bike paths, fish in ponds dying, coyotes, etc. Lets's learn the word content.. Perhaps if we stop nitpickining /looking 4 issues & focus on embracing the good, BB's school ratings would actually reflect higher.

BHS is a great school in a great neighborhood. Everyone at BHS has one goal which is to help their students perform their best and become a better and knowledgeable individual that can help themselves and the community.

I used to love my school. However, now with all of the changes that are ensuing, my feelings are changing. Many changes have been implemented, but the most unreasonable one is the unwritten 'bathroom policy'. In order to leave the classroom, whether to go to the nurse, counselor, even to the bathroom, we have to be escorted by a security guard. Regardless of the emergency of the situation, the student will have to wait for the instructor to make a phone call requesting a security guard and wait for the security guard to reach the classroom and escort you to, inside of, and back from wherever you requested to go. There are over 3,700 students on campus. Bolingbrook High School has three floors, and is on a hill to where you cannot reach certain floors from certain parts of the building. We were told that if a security guard failed to make it to our location in time before the last ten minutes of class and after the first, we would just be forced to wait until after the first ten minutes of the next class period, and attempt to be the first of the other line of students who weren't responded to as well. That, or risk being late to our next class and receive punishment for tardiness if the attempt was unsuccessful.When asked why this unsolidified policy was implemented, staff members, including deans, responded saying that it was initially in place as a security measuring during the last week of school in the 2016-2017 school year due to the senior pranks, in order to ensure that they stopped. And since they liked how clear the hallways were, it was rolled over into the new school year.The reason for the majority of the new changes, that has been emphasized by our principal, Dr. Pascavage, is 'maximizing of classroom instruction', which is understandable. However, restricting our abilities to care for ourselves, portraying them as denied privileges, rather than personal rights, is unethical. If the student body of Bolingbrook is expected to behave and carry ourselves as the young adults that we are growing to be, that growth should be cultivated by the adults that we are expected to look up to. Instead, it is as if our autonomy is being belittled. I was allowed to go to the bathroom alone in elementary school. And now as a young adult in high school, I am treated as if I am no longer capable of caring for myself.During our class assemblies, our principal even made it a priority to demonstrate the quality of the high definition cameras that were installed, showing that they are 'everywhere' and that we are always being watched. Both of my parents worked in law enforcement at a point in time, and I used to joke, saying that they were sending me to serve a 180 day sentence at school.Now it actually feels like a prison

BHS is a school where diversity is celebrates and students have a number of excellent academic and extra curricular opportunities.

It is what you make out of it. As an alum ('09), I went on to college and now have a very lucrative job. I am far from alone in my successes, particularly among those who took honors classes. That said, the standard level and lower classes are nearly impossible to fail, it's easy enough to show up, not do any homework, and end up with passing grades, up to and including A's, with no effort whatsoever. As I stated earlier, as with most things, this school is what you make of it. There's plenty of opportunities for AP and Honors classes, and to receive an excellent education from good teachers, as well as participate in awesome extracurriculars. But it's also a place you can come and go for four years, get your diploma, and start your career in the service or warehouse industries.

Overall this school provides a great education for students. As a parent of an honors student I'm proud that my child attends this school. There is a lot of diversity exposing children to what the real world consists of. The world is not a white majority world. Teachers in hear are passionate in what they do and will push students! Students in the honors courses score high score and with some determination in regular students and a push from parents, scores could sky rocket.

All schools have problems. This school has developed and unfair reputation because it is compared to other schools in the area. BHS is more racially and economically diverse than neighboring schools. The behavior of some kids is a problem with some fighting and use of foul language. Students at many schools use foul language, it's part of the culture of today's youth, unfortunately. The lower standardized test scores are an issue but much of this is due to students not trying to push themselves in standard classes. Most of the honors level students earn high scores. Most of the teachers are effective and care about the students . A few seem to not have the best attitudes. Those that do not need to look for work in another district. My son is mostly in honors courses. He is challenged in his classes and his standardized test scores are high. The curriculum at this school is just as good as any other school. The difference is the effort of the student and level of the class. I do think the standard level kids could be challenged more. All students are capable of learning. We have a new principal who is very committed to making improvements and holding teachers accountable for challenging all students.

When people read the reviews, they should look for what year the review was written in. That says a lot. I'm a freshman, and I have to say, the other students are just bad. The students get away with everything. There is a fight every other day, even though there is a "No Tolerance" policy against it. The teachers are nice and good at what they do, but the students are a distraction. Edline isn't the best either. It is hard to navigate, and you can't find any resources. It's just bad. In my opinion, BHS isn't the best school around. The students are terrible, there isn't any enforcement, and when you try to get grades, you can't find them.

It is sad to say that Bolingbrook High School does not have the best track record. I have 2 children attending BHS currently and I am very pleased with the curriculum, activities, sports, clubs and faculty that are available to my children. Bolingbrook is trying very hard to make this school a great learning environment for kids. It is common sense that it is not only up to the school, it is also up to the children and their parents to make that happen.

Okay, it's definitely not the best. I went to BHS from 2009 to 2012 and to be completely honest... It's the most dangerous, understaffed, corrupt school in the area. During my time at the school there was a stabbing, a fire and let's be honest, you can get drugs anywhere there. The education sucks. Most students that apply for a highly rated college get passed over because of the low ratings and poor curriculum. All and all the school is a danger zone. I say to all students that go to that school be careful and good luck.

I can say with little doubt that Bolingbrook High School, along with most VVSD schools, is the worst school in the state of Illinois. The teachers are poorly trained, the curriculum is un-educational, and the administration is corrupt. I do not recommend this school to anyone planning on getting any sort of education or prospect of college. If I could give it zero stars I would.

I think that BHS is a very horrible school. The fact that freshman from now on starting 2014, they will be in a program that makes them learn higher material then they should. The school should not do that since we did not learn the material that is required to be in the class. So whoever did this, they should be ashamed of themselves!

continued... The sad reason behind the low testing scores does not lie on the teachers rather it is the students lack of commitment to their grades and their future. I also enjoy the schools commitment to their special education program. I have experienced their after school program(best buddies), as well as help out in the low incidence classroom during my lunch and homeroom, and I am proud of the commitment towards the students. I for one would give BHS a 4 out of 5.
