We have a dedicated and kind staff that handles issues quickly and efficiently but with the kindness and understanding every parent wants for their child. The leadership team works tirelessly to grow our students into successful and kind adults.

Hello. I am a parent of a kid. she goes to H.E. McCracken middle school. For the past year, I feel like it's gotten worse. For example how females have multiple issues once a month and should be able to wear pants that make them feel less concerned and insecure about the issues. Also, my kid wore pants that were just over her knees, yet she got in trouble and obtains an in-school suspension. On the other hand, a guy rolls his shorts up to show his whole thigh and not get in trouble The second issue at hand is bus expectations. There have been points where my kid has come home crying. This is because of the language the bus driver has been using. This is especially unexceptional. They are also allowing multiple fights on the bus with no consequences while other kids have this proof. All because they don't care or don't get paid enough to get involved. Even using their phones while driving is not safe. Finally, employing the N-word is Ludacris and should not be around these kids. The third issue of class expectations is stressful for me. I understand phones being used in class is distracting and them from discovering things in lessons, but I work hard to get them the phone schools should have no right to take personal property from our students. As teachers don’t always know the well living of students they have no right to say what can and can’t do. Also, some teachers give way too much homework as my kid is a straight A & B student she comes home and does school work every day and works tirelessly to make sure they don’t fall behind. Finally, my child had a book report and she got a book from the school library. Only to find a book that looked good and some of the word on the back was crossed out. This was because it mentioned an inappropriate word. Why is the summary of the book bad and ok for them to read the book? This is encouraging bad behavior in school. Finally school uniforms, by refraining from allowing students to wear what they want with little exceptions you are teaching them how to blend in. This is not good as it will show that when blending in they won’t do anything great like they are just like everyone else. Furthermore, with inflation happening, it is difficult to provide our growing kids with expensive uniforms that are hard to find. So all I am asking is to fix these problems that you don’t realize or kids are doing or going through thank you.

I have had three children attend this school. The staff and teachers are amazing. My child has special needs and an IEP. The teachers and guidance counselors have gone above and beyond to accommodate him. I could not be happier.

The only thing that makes this school bad is the students and disrespect from some staff members.

This school is so disappointing. I was blown away by how unprofessional the front office staff are. The School Administrators do not care about students. The principal is terrible. They teachers overload students with work to the point of burnout. It’s such a shame that this school is ran so poorly and that the students aren’t the priority. My middle schooler even notices and comments on how unprofessional the staff and some of the teachers are. If you have a choice, don’t send your child here. Private schools are a much better option. Do whatever you can to prevent your child from having to endure three years of middle at this terrible place.

Violence, swearing, bullying, drugs and yes even sex in the bathrooms happens when the teachers look the other way. Nobody can be bothered. It's the bottom school and everyone knows it. Teachers are not happy and they have given up on caring. The food is not fit for dogs. I hope we can just get through it. Coming from a great school where everyone cared has made it even tougher. It could be a good school if the adults were in charge.

This is a school that I did not want to go to but I had to only because it is middle school, and I couldn't move at the time but hopefully it gets better here because I am still a student here and I only like two teachers, and the rest I am not a fan of. I hope I can have a better time here for the next two or less years here.

Negative. Would not recommend. Teachers have to take some kind of dale Carnegi classes. Not all but few. The other ones look like scared to tell them anything

I was very hestitant about enrolling my children here. We left a very shady school district in CT and was so nervous about getting into the same here in Bluffton. These ratings are so off. I've never been happier with a school in my life. The teachers and administration truly go out of their way to make their students excel in every aspect of their learning. 2016 has been a rebuilding year for the Bluffton schools and it shows. It shows for the positive. All in all, we couldn't be happier

This school has been moving in the right direction since the new leadership regime, so take this in consideration when you look at the reviews. The majority of staff is great and willing to help students learn and grow (there are a few bad apples in every school, so this will not effect the rating). I will be interested to see how the school does when it restructures back to a traditional middle school configuration.

I read reviews on Trulia about McCracken, unfortunately some remarks WERE true, in the past. Principal Bornscheuer has changed things dramatically. He has great ideas. Show up, ask questions, volunteer. The more parents in the school, the better the school will be. It is a community. "Together We Will" is the motto.

This school has improved so much since Mr. Warfield took over as Principal. He is engaged with the students and seeks parental involvement. I see a community that supports the extracurricular activities of the school and parents who are willing to get their hands dirty. My child is an A student, and his teachers keep us informed.

The majority of teachers at this school are great! They want to teach and they do a good job TRYING to do that. However, there are quite a few kids at this school that are so disruptive the teachers can't teach and the students cant learn. Seriously!!! I have spent a lot of time at this school and I'm amazed at how unruly the students are. When I ask why these students haven't been reprimanded they say its because nothing is done when they do refer them. A school is only as good as the principal, and if the principal doesn't back up the teachers, then the school is overrun by thugs. This could be a REALLY GREAT school if they could get rid of kids with major behavior issues! Mr. Shaw did nothing except sit in his office all day. He never returned phone calls or emails. Now maybe the school can turn around now that he's gone! Please get the thugs and disruptive kids out of the school and this will be a great school just like the majority of the students.
