I feel like the school overall is fine. I really appriciate the principal. However, I wish the teachers were more able to deal with child with learning disabilities rather than just throwing out that he should be in special needs. I myself went to district 87 and suffered from adhd and was never put in special education but my teachers worked with me.

Overall, blown away. Constantly. Year after year. We have attended now for three years over five different grades. We began our schooling career in Unit 5, homeschooled and then ended up at Oakland and District 87. I have been more pleased with what I have experienced in District 87 than I could have ever imagined. I feel the education level on both a books smart and emotional growth standpoint are superior and am so pleased by that. I truly feel that the staff cares about each of their students, understands the difficulty of being lower income and does their best to assist those students that don't have all the advantages of others. Absolutely amazing.

I continue to be blown away by this school. The amount of time the teachers, staff and leadership devote to the kids is unparalled. My big girls went through fourth and fifth grades, my youngest is now in second. Each year I think we have the best teacher and each year I am wowwed by our new teacher. I can't say enough about how much I love and appreciate everyone at this school!

We moved to this school district from out of state. We are very impressed with all of our kids' teachers. Our 5th grader has really enjoyed his experience. There are three 5th grade teachers and they teach different subjects. It is a system in which our child has excelled. The school librarian is also great. Both of our kids look forward to library time. Same goes for PE and Art. We would recommend this school to anyone.
