As an old student who used to go to junior high, I'm now a freshman at BHS. I'm realizing how much things were justified in BJHS. From the fights being every singular day to peers cursing and being unkind to each other, to people trying to be "gangsters"?! It was a mess. Certain teachers would be lovely, and I missed certain amounts of them throughout my first year of high school. But others were biased through people's appearances, assuming because of their impressions that these students are nuts. I also wish BJHS had taken more time on mental health since the junior high experience was low-key stressful. Then, counselors wouldn't even be confidential about certain topics that aren't even dangerous! And honors students are very underrated, especially me. As an honors student, you may get awards. But if you're in Pre-Algebra in 7th grade with a 90+ grade, you still move up in an average math class?! It seems unfair that's the case. BJHS does have fun moments, but at the end of the day, it has more downs than ups. The things I still enjoy include the Orchestra Program, the clubs, and friendships I made. If you want to go through a Disney Channel kind of school, then this is the school.

This school is a goat rodeo! There are no consequences for actions. It runs on chaos and none of the administration has control. The administration also does not back parents when there is an issue.Discipline for violence is non existent,offering a slap on the wrist for what in the real world, would be assualt. They are not preparing these children for the future and they are not doing them any favors with their lax approach and denial of the issues that they face. A child cannot learn in a violent chaotic environment. DO BETTER!

Love it how everyone is always fired up and ready to learn which is not what usually happens with most schools such as oak dale and Kingsley and they’ve had it rough as I’ve seen a video demonstrations one of their students being involved in some adult inappropriate activities and physical contact I will not name them but I will just say I don’t blame the school since the girl was on a bus but I blame the bus drivers that they hire so I hope they find more trustworthy bus drivers soon and learn to find better help but overall the teachers are amazing especially mr zumo the best teacher that the district 87 could ever have he is a really fun teacher and really cool and chill and can understand students and I saw him in elementary teaching my kid and I was just in awe as everyone in ms martins class was excited that he was one of those fun and cool and chill teachers that they dream of and my kid which is going to 12th loved him and he was his favorite teacher throughout his entire school career and the gym activities he loves most and he wasn’t really in on changing his shirt but he loved the playing sports in the gym such as soccer volleyball and basketball

Teachers give wrong answers, dont do anything about fights exept maybe a lunch detention. I dont like it here (clubs are decent though and teachers are atleast nice)

this school worries more about phones than bullying while someone that bullies would just get talking to someone with a phone out will get something written on their permanent record but a lot of the teachers are fun and care about their students.

My child had the worst experience and was treated so badly going to this school. Constantly bullied, having to fight or run home after school. We've completely removed him and are now homeschooling him. 100% turnaround, now that he's safe to learn!

My son has been verbally harassed by students on more than one occasion, the students were given a talking to about it. He also came home with his shirt tore up by other students, same thing, they were talked to about this. 2 teachers told me that if my son didn't act and talk like he does he wouldn't get bullied and that it would help if he didn't say anything back when he is bullied.Basically I felt they told me that my son should not be himself and not defend himself. My son isn't a perfect angel, I understand that, but they absolutely do not have a zero tolerance polocy

This school any many issues that just need to be addressed. One as a student, the way some of the staff interacts with student's is simply unacceptable. I've heard cursing, screaming, and yelling all from people who are supposed to be helping a situation. The school does nothing if you file an incident report, and so much goes on it's sometimes hard to pay attention. There is definitely a lack of more classes (ex. you can't even take a language until 8th grade) and they took away almost any unique opportunities they used to offer (outdoor ed, band and zero hour, etc). Not to mention the kids are out of control, and there are multiple fights on the daily. I know at least one person who was literally chocked in class, and the other kid was only suspended for two days. There is lots of diversity here which is good, and the band program is awesome, but overall I would not go back, and not send my kids if I had any or recommend anyone to this school.

I went here and my mental health declined so quickly. I dreaded going there. I was bullied and the school didn’t help nor face that fact.

We have had such a positive experience attending BJHS. As a NCHS graduate, I always thought that I would never send my child to District 87.....I was SO wrong! I will never send my kids back to Unit 5. I feel as though the school has really embraced each child’s unique learning & abilities!! Great job BJHS!!!

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS JR HIGH! Unless your child is aggressive do not send your child to this school. My child happens to be passive and nonviolent which does not fit well into this school since the school administrator that I've been dealing with has no backbone to fight against bullying. In fact he shared that his own son gets bullied and he continues to keep him at the school to deal with it. They have daily fights at this school to the point where they have a police officer on campus every day. There should be zero tolerance for bullying yet they sweep these types of situations under the rug. If you want to be certain that your child is safe while at school to get the education your child deserves do not send your child here. There are only 3 great things about this school. Me. Wetzel, Mrs. Pulido, and Mrs. Veniga, these are great teachers. They should be at a better school, getting paid well, and teaching children who actually want to learn and these kids who are just looking for the next fight they can post on social media! Bloomington Jr High YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!!

Their school is one of the best school I ever ben to The teacher and staff are the best and they habe so many activities for kids and familes I think you should go there
