We absolutely loved Emerson and thrilled that our child is a student there. The principal Ms. Holmes is amazing and is constantly going above and beyond for the students. Emerson is one of the smaller elementary schools in Berkeley but feel fortunate that there is such a great sense of community among the parents.

Emerson is an excellent school. The kids all get art 1x per week, along with music (woodwinds, strings and brass are available in 4th grade), PE (2x per week) and science. The teachers are super experienced, and the school culture is very caring and kind.

The school was a very interesting experience for my kids. The homework is alright nothing good nothing bad. However the teachers can be a bit rough and like to favor kids. there is some bullies that went there and the teachers favor kids over others. Lots of cliques and kids arent the nicest. No resolution is included in matters such as cheating in sports. The Old PE teachers were way too hard on my kids and so is the current coach. Some experiences were good others not so much. The schools art program is not for creative people with ideas but more for people who dont talk back. The school is better for younger kids like kindergartners and 1st graders.

The teachers care so much about the kids. The principal (Ms. Hodge) ROCKS!!! A great leader! The community is tight, warm and care about the school. The PTA is amazing, they support the school so much to find extra funding for extra programs for the kids. Everybody knows everybody's name. The kids who graduated always come back to visit because the love their Emerson. We LOVE Emerson!

This school may be the best in Berkeley, certainly the best in the south zone. I love that the staff has been in place for years and adheres to the "Emerson Way", which makes the school run smoothly and puts children first. They have tons of enrichment classes and a very involved parent community. Its like getting a free private school education!

My daughter has been attending Emerson for 4 years and it's been great. The teachers, principal and staff are top-notch. The other parents are engaged and caring. I can't imagine I'd ever find a place
