We have 2 children at Pear Tree, a 4th grader and 1st grader. We love the Montessori curriculum, social justice "lens" that everything is taught through, amazing social emotional learning, small class sizes, but most of all the community of students/families and the staff. Overall, PTCS has been the best choice for our family. Our kids are learning and thriving, and love going to school (they get upset if I pick them up “too early” from aftercare). We feel so lucky to have found pear tree!

We went through so many schools to find the perfect place for our daughter, we wish we would’ve came to Pear Tree sooner. She started there in 2016 the 2nd grade and it was a life changing experience to have such an intentional and loving community of families and educators who really cared about the well being of all the kids. The school communicates very well, is always open to feedback and willing to meet students and families where they are, and lifts up and supports cultures in ways that other schools do not even think about. We are so happy to have our youngest child in PTCS as well. The level of consistent excellence and support we have seen and experienced over the last 7 years is amazing and the school is some how getting better each year! PTCS has demonstrated that my children can feel love to learn, be safe, be loved, and love who they are. We absolutely needed to have a school that allows children, especially Black children a space to be loved and love themselves.

This school is absolutely the most amazing place for learning and support. The school recently moved to a bigger campus and our only concern used to be the small play yard and that is no longer a concern. We are a South Asian family and our kiddo learns about his culture and all other cultures as well. Kiddo is in 4th grade and doing 8th grade math. We love love love this school and wish it was a middle school too.

If you’re looking for a school that ONLY supports and FAVORS wealthy African American students and families then this is the school for you. Teachers are not certified and the school is over priced and over rated. My child was struggling academically for years at Peartree so I pulled my child out and now my child is thriving at a public school with lots of recourses and support.

Pear Tree is an amazing place. My child went to a strong preschool that we were quite happy with, but he has just thrived here! The thoughtful, social justice curriculum has given him an age-appropriate and amazing framework on some of the hard things that we see and have to deal with in the world. The level of care and attention to detail from teachers, the quality and depth and sophistication of the work that they have drawn out of his classmates and him and the thoughtfulness with which they track and facilitate his relationship with his peers is phenomenal. I feel incredibly fortunate that my child has been able to be a part of this space at this time!!

This school is absolutely amazing. My 2nd grader loves it so much. School is like an extended family. My son's teachers have been at the school for 5+ years and are excellent educators. He learns so much, the emphasis on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is really strong and all students are made to feel included intentionally. The school's Covid precautions have been scientific, thoughtful and no kid got Covid during 2020 and 2021 so far, even with the school open more than many others. We feel so blessed to have such an amazing school for our child.

It seems as though this school has too much going on behind the scenes. Peartree does have favoritism in staff as well as the students, which is unfair and very unprofessional for the rest. The teacher turn-over rate is very high! The upper grades in the school get all of the tools, time, materials and attention. Very expensive school but I wouldn’t call it a school, It’s more like a daycare with unstable leaders. Back in 2017 the school was strong but with more money involved and an increase in classrooms, the focus has shifted. I’m personally sad this school didn’t work out for my family but it was a learning experience.

Overall, i have not had any major concerns, except that my child prefers to be at school then home and throws a tantrum if she is late or cannot attend school.

Wonderful experience! We as a family are so loved by Pear Tree Community. My son is 4 yrs old going on 5. We have seen such an imrovement in his confidence in communicating with us and with his peers. We want him to be a confident and independent young man and that's what Michele Hamilton wants for our children. " Ms Mama Michele", her nickname created from some of the students has created a well diversed school, with high levels of education. My son never wants to miss a day. Also need to mention our appreciation for the teachers. They create a new, fun and exciting way for our children to obtain the knowledge. Ms Michele also offers parent education meetings, so that we could be better parents. Thank you Pear Tree Community! : )

I love Pear Tree, and just as important, my son loves Pear Tree. The staff works intentionally in creating an inclusive and caring learning environment. My son started in the Pear Tree Preschool when he was 3, and now he is 5 and just is at Pear Tree Community School. The wide range of academic content, practical life skills, cultural awareness, and social/ emotional skills the school offers ensures that they are helping with the growth of the whole child. My son is more confident in his reading, writing, and gets excited to work with numbers (math). He also often tells me to sit down in front of him and have a conversation with him, and very expressive verbally about why he is feeling sad/mad/happy. It's very heart warming to see how he growing into an amazing person, and I have Pear Tree to thank for helping.
