Pierce Elementary School strives to give students a safe, fun, and rigorous learning experience. Through community partnerships and family involvement, the school promotes building strong connections and involvement to increase student learning opportunities. Pierce Elementary School offers hands-on learning opportunities for students through programs like outdoor learning initiatives. Pierce encourages community involvement and works with neighboring organizations such as the Cornucopia Project to teach students about science through their school gardens, and the Harris Center, which educates students about outdoor wildlife and life cycles. The educators at Pierce Elementary School strive to communicate clearly and frequently with families, build strong ties with the community, and increase student rigor in all subjects. Students get what they need to be successful, they have various afterschool clubs and field trips available throughout the year, all to increase students' love of learning.

Poor -Despite the small size and good teacher to student ratio there is a lack of focus to tech depth of knowledge in subject matter. Classic teaching to the test and based on these scores even this strategy has been ineffective. Communication to parents with regards to this lack of effectiveness has been blamed, repeatedly over 3 principals, to the high percentage of low income families. Can you say cop-out? I am not clear if it denial of what is happening (or not happening) within this school, or simply an inability to tackle the actual issues; which leads to a bunch of pretty sounding programs to create a veneer of positive action with out the actual skill, desire, or plan, to effectively implement them.
